Students at AUBG select one primary major, which they will study. They may select a secondary major and/or up to two minors. Students can select from a variety of courses, and only have to choose a major during their second year.

The department coordinates two majors and three minors. These majors and minors can be combined together or with any other discipline at AUBG.

The program provides students with broad knowledge of the political issues and the formulation and implementation of domestic and foreign policy, thus, developing their understanding of current events.

European Society Club hosts the annual Model European Union simulation in Blagoevgrad (MEU Blagoevgrad), organizes lectures and group discussions.

BLIMUN Clubhosts the annual Blagoevgrad International Model United Nations (BLIMUN) conference, which involves international students.

Three student-run clubs channel the extracurricular activities of the department. Every student can join any of these clubs or establish his or her own.

Student Clubs

MEU Blagoevgrad is a simulation of EU legislative decision-making, organized each spring at AUBG. The participants get a chance to exchange ideas, improve their skills, and learn how the European Union functions.

BLIMUN conference takes place at AUBG each February since 2009. The participants are placed in committees and assigned countries which they represent during the discussion of acute political topics.
