The Subcommittee on Atherosclerosis and Hypertension in Childhood of the Council on Cardiovascular Disease in the Young, American Heart Association, has recommended the initiation of healthy lifestyle training in childhood. It has suggested strategies for physicians to integrate into routine paediatric care which are hoped to result in improved cardiovascular health in adult life. The Subcommittee has identified cigarette smoking cessation, increased physical activity, and reducing obesity, hypertension and cholesterol levels as critical areas to be targeted. Strong WB.
