    4. F EATURES O F T OOLS USED

    Microsoft SQL Server - 2008 [Back-End]:

Microsoft SQL Server is a relational database management system developed byMicrosoft. As a database, it is a software product whose primary function is to storeand retrieve data as requested by other software applications, be it those on the samecomputer or those running on another computer across a network (including theInternet).

There are at least a dozen different editions of Microsoft SQL Server aimed atdifferent audiences and for different workloads (ranging from small applications thatstore and retrieve data on the same computer, to millions of users and computers that

access huge amounts of data from the Internet at the same time). SQL Server support for structured and semi-structured data, including digital media

formats for pictures, audio, video and other multimedia data. It can be a data storage backend for different varieties of data: email, time/calendar, file, document, spatial, etc. as well as perform search, query, analysis, sharing, and synchronization across alldata types.

    Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 (Asp.Net, C# Language) [Front-End]:

Visual Studio is a comprehensive collection of tools and services for developingapplications that target the desktop, the web, devices, and the cloud. For teamsworking across multiple platforms, Visual Studio provides a flexible collaborationenvironment for that welcomes connection with other development tools, such asEclipse and Xcode.

Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 is an integrated development environment (IDE) fromMicrosoft that simplifies the basic tasks of creating, debugging and deployingapplications. Visual Studio 2010 Professional unleashes your imagination and easilydelivers your ideas.

Microsoft Visual C#, Microsofts implementation of the C# language, targets the.NET Framework, along with the language services that lets the Visual Studio IDEsupport C# projects. While the language services are a part of Visual Studio, thecompiler is available separately as a part of the .NET Framework.

    MS-Visio:

Visio began as a standalone product produced by Shape-Ware Corporation; version1.0 shipped in 1992. A pre-release, Version 0.92, was distributed free on a floppy disk

along with a Microsoft Windows systems readiness evaluation utility. In 1995, Shape-Ware Corporation changed their name to Visio Corporation to take advantage of

  • 8/12/2019 Project Report on ERP Modules for Construction Industry

    13/289

market recognition and related product equity. Microsoft acquired Visio in 2000, re-

branding it as a Microsoft Office application, like Microsoft Project; however, it has

never been included in any of the Office suites. Microsoft included a Visio for

Enterprise Architects edition with some editions of Visual Studio .NET

    2003 and Visual Studio 2005.

Along with Microsoft Visio 2002 Professional, Microsoft introduced Visio Enterprise Network Tools and Visio Network Centre. Visio Enterprise Network Tools was an

add-on product that enabled automated network and directory services diagramming.

Visio Network Centre was a subscription-based website where users could locate the

latest network documentation content and exact-replica network equipment shapes

    from 500 leading manufacturers.

    MS-Office:

Microsoft Office 2007 (officially called 2007 Microsoft Office System), alsocalled MS Office 2007, is a Windows version of the Microsoft Office

System, Microsoft's productivity suite. Known as Office 12 in the early stages of its

beta development, it was released to volume license customers on November 30,

2006 and made available to retail customers on January 30, 2007. These are,

respectively, the same dates Windows Vista was released to volume licensing and

retail customers. Office 2007 contains a number of new features, the most notable of

which is the entirely new graphical user interface called the Fluent User Interface

initially referred to as the Ribbon User Interface, replacing the menus and toolbars

which have been the cornerstone of Office since its inception with a tabbed toolbar,

known as the Ribbon. Office 2007 requires Windows XP with Service Pack 2 or

higher, Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 1 or higher, Windows Vista or

Windows 7.Office 2007 is the last version of Microsoft Office which is officially

supported on Windows XP Professional x64 Edition and the first version to officially

    work on Windows 8.

    5. DETAILED DESCRIPTION O F SYSTEM

5.1 Existing System:There doesnt exist any computerized system. Accounts and other books are kept

manually. Records are manually entered in each and every book therefore large amount of

time is spent maintaining the books.

Every project is managed by physically visiting the sites and contacting the

respective project managers. Inventories at every project are maintained by bookkeepers

manually. Units sold and status of units can be determined by contacting the projectmanager. For any information regarding the project or units of project, project manager is

contacted. Booking of unit is made from the respective project office only

As every task in existing system is done manually, large amount of time is

consumed to complete simple tasks. Therefore to overcome this drawback of existing

system, proposed system is equipped with such features that reduces time consumed for

simple tasks and helps in completing the projects as fast as possible.

    6. S YSTEM DOCUMENTATION

    6.1 Feasibility Study

A feasibility study is undertaken to determine the possibility or probability

of either improving the existing system or developing a completely new system. Once

the entire research has been done with scope of project being defined one should ask

him Can we build the software to meet the scope? Is the project feasible? There is a

famous quote from Putnam and Myers Not everything imaginable is feasible, not

even in software, evanescent as it may appear to outsiders. Before developing ant

system, whether be a mechanical or electrical or Computer system, its facility must be

    study properly.

The objective of feasibility Study is to test technical, economic and social

feasibility of a system to be developed. This is done by investigating the existing

system in the area under investigation and generating ideas about new system. The

purpose system must be evaluated from a technical viewpoint first and if compatible,

social and technical system be devised, then they must be tested for economic

    feasibility.

It helps to obtain overview of the problem and to get rough assessment of

whether feasible solution exists. This is essential to avoid committing large resources

to a project and then repent on it later.

There are three aspects in Feasibility Study portion of the preliminary investigation.

    Technical Feasibility

    Economic Feasibility

    Operational Feasibility

  • 8/12/2019 Project Report on ERP Modules for Construction Industry

    18/289

    Technical Feasibility

Project is required to be implemented using PHP and MS-SQL Server 2005.

Image Software Consultancy is equipped with technologies required. Also the proposed

system does not need any sophisticated technologies. The platform used area readily

available. The new system proposed uses least of the system resources. The proposed

system can be expanded in future, by adding new modules.

    i.e.

The minimum required technology exists or can be acquired to do what

    is suggested.

The proposed System has a technical capacity to hold data required till

    use in the new system.

There are technical guarantees of accuracy, reliability, ease of access

    and data security.

    Operational Feasibility

Website would be easy to operate for the members and admin of the organization

who are going to use this website, so that they can make the best use of the website.

End users of the system are Administrators, extra care is taken but the developers to

provide very good and easy to understand user interfaces and a proper user manual, So

that least operational problems would be encountered. Performance of Sales and

Purchase Dept. of RPPL will shoot up sharply after implementation of this system.

Hence; this in turn makes this software product operationally feasible.

    i.e.

There is a sufficient support for the project from the management andusers.

Accessibility of information will not be lost.

Individual performance will be better after implementation than before.

    Economic Feasibility

This feasibility is important in development of the software for any organization.

Since, all Software support and hardware platform required in this project are alreadyavailable at Image Software Consultancy, no extra cost have to be involved for

  • 8/12/2019 Project Report on ERP Modules for Construction Industry

    19/289

developing and implementing this software product. Thus, this software is financially

    feasible.

The cost to conduct the full system investigation.

The cost of hardware and software for the class of application being

    considered.

The benefits in the form of reduce cost or fewer costly errors.

The cost of nothing changes(i.e. the proposed system is not developed)
