(ACC) has commenced with particulate monitoring at the Glenview Elementary site. As discussed, ACC has provided monitors at four locations around the site. One monitor will be placed at an upwind location and three monitors will be placed at down wind locations. For the monitoring conducted from September 24 through October 4, 2016 the monitored locations are depicted on the attached diagram. The monitors are placed at the start of the work shift and are set to run for the duration of the shift. The monitors log measurements throughout the shift and are then downloaded where the measurements can be viewed and interpreted. The monitoring event on from Saturday September 24, 2016 was completed to evaluate ambient site conditions. Ambient measurements indicated site emissions at 3 micrograms per cubic meter. Heavy demolition of the main building began on September 28, 2016. The results for the initial monitoring from September 24 through October 4, 2016 are summarized in Table 1 attached. Results of the monitoring should be compared to the California Air Resources Board (CARB) ambient air quality standard for particulate material up to 10 microns (PM10) of 50 micrograms per cubic meter for a 24-hour period. With the exception of one location on September 28, 2016 the results of the monitoring indicate compliance with the CARB standard. After reviewing the work practices and results on the first day of heavy demolition, the demolition contractor adjusted their work practices per our recommendations and added a second laborer and water hose to help mange emissions generated by the demolition. The impact of the additional water has greatly reduced the particulate levels measured at the perimeter of the site. As requested, ACC will continue with periodic monitoring of the site for three day per week through completion of the demolition and site preparation activities, which is scheduled for January 2017.
