Goodrich Consulting LLP are a Construction Consultancy based in Milton Malsor, Northamptonshire, withover 20 years’ experience in providing the highest quality service to private and public sector clients,professional teams, developers and contractors. Goodrich is managed by three Partners, Richard Goodenough, Mark Plowman andPaul Riley. Each partner brings their own values and expertise to the company.

Richard is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and is the founder of Goodrich. Previous to Goodrich Richardworked for a number of national and medium sized Building Contractors, including HBG Construction,Midland Oak Construction and Wilcon Construction. Richard has extensive Design and Build experience inthe industrial and commercial sector and was involved on one of our biggest projects The Pinnacle, MiltonKeynes a Multi-storey landmark office development across 3 buildings with basement car park, totalling200,000 sq ft of space to let. This project not only achieved a BREEAM rating of “Excellent”, but receivedthe Sustainable Achievement Award at the Property Week’s Office Development Awards 2009.

Mark started his career with F Maitland Partnership as an M&E Quantity Surveyor gaining experience insub-contractor quantity surveying, tendering and estimating. Before joining Goodrich he worked forprofessional practice Gleeds as Quantity Surveyor where he managed his own projects from inception tocompletion. Mark’s experience brings extensive Industrial and Care Home knowledge and has delivered 4major distribution centres for The Co-operative and 20 Care Homes, one of which won at the Pinders DesignAwards. Mark is extremely technically minded and his attention to detail shows in all of his projects.

Paul has an excellent record of project delivery across all sectors within the construction industry in particularhis substantial knowledge of the Education, Leisure and Industrial sectors. He is a Chartered Builder andheads up the CDMC function in Goodrich. Paul’s experience working for Llewellyn Construction and DavisLangdon is invaluable and has been a real boost to Goodrich. Paul is a proactive problem solver andcommunicator with excellent construction knowledge.

Since its inception Goodrich has grown into a much larger team and we believehaving the right staff with the right expertise is key to any project. We havebeen awarded some fantastic projects ranging from £1 million to £45 million andhave worked for many major Clients and Developers including, Travis Perkins, TheCo-operative, Debenhams, Airkix, Northampton School for Boys, Bedford Girls’School, Graftongate, Bupa, Roxhill, Hampton Brook, Legal & General and StAndrew’s Healthcare.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

The role of Project Manager encompasses the management of matters con-cerning planning, design, procurement, construction and completion of contract.

Working directly for the Client, Goodrich eases the burden of responsibility and risk byproviding a single point of contact for control and reporting across the whole construction team.Goodrich has a proven track record in the field of project management and wide experience ofdesign and build and partnering projects.

Pre-contract responsibilities can include co-ordination of market appraisal, structural and other surveys,ground investigation, viability study, work-up of brief and specification, prediction of cost and programme,selection and appointment of professional team, design development, planning and building regulation is-sues, form of contract and selection, and appointment of contractor. Post-contract responsibilities can includemonitoring of construction quality and programme, cost, fit-out and occupation, reporting, training in oper-ation and maintenance, liaison with occupier and fund surveyors and agreement of final account.

QUANTITY SURVEYING

Goodrich Consulting take cost management and value engineering very seriously and treat the Client’smoney as if it were their own. The team consists of highly experienced staff who have come from both theClient and Contracting sides of the construction industry. You can be assured with Goodrich’s in depth knowl-edge of market forces, database of historical costs using current tendered figures, and close relationshipwith supply chain of contractors and sub contractors, Clients are provided with accurate budget costs whichgive the confidence to move forward with the project.

Working alongside the Architect, Structural Engineer, Services and other consultants and specialists, Goodrichprovides advice on the optimum form of contract and procurement method, prepares all contract and legaldocumentation, for which a full suite of legal documentation including Letters of Appointment, Collateral War-ranties, Performance Bonds and Novation agreements is produced.

EMPLOYER’S AGENT

As an alternative to a total project management solution, we can deliver specific services to perform the func-tion of Employer’s Agent in accordance with the terms of the JCT Building Contract. The Employers Agent roleis – part project manager, part contract administrator and part cost manager. Typical duties covered by theEmployers Agent are Attending Client, Design, Project, Site and other meetings, Issuing Instructions on be-half of the Client to the Professional team and Main Contractor in accordance with their terms of appoint-ments, agreeing project reporting and recording procedures and implementing agreed proceedures,monitoring the performance of the Professional team and the Contractor and reporting to Client, liaising withthe Professional team and preparing regular/monthly, cost and programme reports

QUALITY MONITORING

At Goodrich we consider quality and compliance to be of the utmost importanceto the long term success of a project. As Quality Monitors and on behalf of the Clientwe will visit site regularly with the sole purpose of proactively checking, inspecting andcommenting on the quality of the build as it progresses.

Our role is to deliver each and every construction project to a standard of quality which completely sat-isfies our client's expectations and objectives. We combine our years of experience with the latest best prac-tice standards to continually evolve our quality assurance procedures and policies.

CDM CO-ORDINATION

Goodrich will assist the Client in the appointment of competent designers and contractors, and notify the HSEof the project. They will review and co-ordinate design work in relation to health and safety, identify andcollect the pre-construction information for issue to designers and potential contractors, and produce theHealth & Safety File at the end of the project.

Under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 the Client is required by law to appointa CDM Co-ordinator to manage Health and Safety issues during the planning, preparation and construc-tion stages of a contract. Goodrich staff are fully qualified to act in this role, to the extent that some per-sonnel have attained Membership of the Association for Project Safety. Goodrich is therefore ideallypositioned to advise Clients of their obligations under CDM and ensuring preparation of the pre-tenderHealth and Safety plan and that the Health & Safety file is maintained, completed and handed to theClient on contract completion.

BREEAM

Goodrich are licensed to carry out Industrial, Office, Retail, Multi-residential developments and BespokeBREEAM Assessments. Our BREEAM Assessor Bill Gibbon is a recognised BREEAM Accredited Professional.The BREEAM AP (Accredited Professional) status recognises specialist skills in sustainability combined with ahigh level of competence in the BREEAM assessment process.

Our Client base comprises developers, occupiers, funds and contractors and by co-ordinating our extensivecost expertise, we are able to provide BREEAM guidance which helps to ensure that their scheme achievesthe highest possible standards in the most efficient manner, whilst maintaining practical and financial viability.
