Estimados colegas,

Cordialmente,

Tomás García Blanco

PRESIDENTE Comité Organizador X LACPEC

chairmanX Lacpec 2007

Dear colleagues,

in this very special year for the oil industry in argentina celebrating its one hundredth anniversary; a landmark of development and growth in the region, i am honored to invite you to take part in the X Lacpec 2007, to be held in Buenos aires in april this year.

this meeting, which is expected to be exceptional, will include a number of distinguished experienced and knowledgeable people and will be supported by a record-setting number of over 200 papers. the forum format will be round tables, where major issues of concern will be discussed given the fact that the industry faces technical challenges such as recovery rates of our fields, the challenge of attracting new professionals and of bringing them into this industry given the shortage of human resources, as well as the challenge of showing the sector’s true commitment to the well-being of society.

Within this framework, i call upon you to join us in this meeting that is reflective of the mind and heart of a growing, and thriving industry developed by technicians who with hard work and dedication strive to improve and sustain the well being of us all.

Sincerely,

pRUEBAS DE pOzO: BENEFICIOS Y LImITACIONES

oBJeCtIvesin this course an overview of past and current well testing methods is presented. although current testing practices may involve the use of modern testing equipment and optimized testing programs and procedures, it is shown that getting the desired reservoir evaluation objectives in the best economical way depends in many cases on the formation nature (homogeneous or naturally fractured), fluid properties, and well environment response to the particular testing equipment and field practices. Several field cases are presented were testing benefits and limitations are emphasized the benefits of considering the design of the test and a contingency plan in every testing job are presented. Lessons learned from many field cases of tests conducted in both onshore and offshore exploratory wells are indicative that the key for a successful layer testing lies in that the analysis of the acquired pressure and production data as well as fluid type should be done in conjunction and during the testing time with the drilling, geophysical, geology, petrophysical, and testing teams.

Who should attend?: petroleum engineers, geologists, geophysicists, reservoir and production engineers. geological operations professionals and managers.
