I am developing advanced sensor fusion methods on real-time embedded systems for wide range of positioning and navigation applications. Sensor fusion is commonly tackled using advanced signal processing, estimation, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. The challenge becomes more complex when sensor fusion methods are to be implemented on limited resources embedded computing platforms or microcontrollers. I have 4 granted patents and 60+ international publications and two book chapters in sensor fusion-based positioning using wireless networks, inertial sensors, Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), Ultra- wideband (UWB) Ranging, LiDAR, and Vision sensors. The simultaneous processing of heterogeneous high-rate streams of noisy sensor measurements on limited resources embedded computing systems under hard real- time constraints is the core of my research. Profile

Assistant professor with the Department of Systems and Computer Engineering in Carleton University. I am

developing advanced sensor fusion methods on real-time embedded systems for wide range of positioning

and navigation applications. Sensor fusion is commonly tackled using advanced signal processing, estimation,

machine learning, and artificial intelligence. The challenge becomes more complex when sensor fusion

methods are to be implemented on limited resources embedded computing platforms or microcontrollers. I

have 4 granted patents and 60+ international publications and two book chapters in sensor fusion-based

positioning using wireless networks, inertial sensors, Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), Ultra-

wideband (UWB) Ranging, LiDAR, and Vision sensors. The simultaneous processing of heterogeneous high-rate

streams of noisy sensor measurements on limited resources embedded computing systems under hard real-

time constraints is the core of my research.

Responsibilities The PDF award is based on the Mitacs Elevate Competition to conduct an industry-driven R&D in cooperative multi-sensors navigation for connected vehicles. This research utilizes MEMS-based inertial sensors, GNSS receivers, and vehicular networks to enhance navigation accuracy and to provide reliable telematics services. This work has resulted in one IEEE Transaction paper and one conference paper.

Responsibilities • Performing research in integrating MEMS-based inertial sensors with LiDAR and wireless sensors networks to develop indoor monitoring and tracking systems for mobile devices. This research has resulted in an IEEE Transaction paper, 3 other journal papers, and 4 conference papers. I also participated in writing several successful NSERC and DND grant proposals.

Responsibilities Developing advanced sensors fusion methods to provide 3D accurate indoor objects/persons tracking, navigation, and guidance systems. Out of this PhD work, I published 9 journal papers (one of them is IEEE Transactions paper), 15 conference papers and submitted one patent application. Furthermore, I successfully realized my research outcomes on real Embedded Linux devices and Android-based Smartphones.

Research Student (Master Work) (Part-time) (Sept.2002- Sept 2006)

Responsibilities Designing a Graphical User Interface and a Computer Control System that performs real-time robotic arms motion planning with obstacle avoidance. I applied genetic algorithms to solve the problem of optimal path planning and inverse kinematics in the existence of obstacles. I developed a software environment with advanced computer graphics interface to perform this complex task on a real robotic arm. Out of this research, I published three conference papers.

Responsibilities • Responsible for establishing the foundation of systems development infrastructure of TPI with particular focus on software development life cycle management.

• Active player in research activities, generating ideas, and transferring highly sophisticated navigation algorithms into working products for both real-time and post-processing software releases.

Responsibilities • Leading a team of computer software developers, analysts, testers and architects toward content management systems research and development.

• Assisting the team by providing technical knowledge in computer software programming (C, C++, and Java), systems analysis and design tools (OOAD and UML), testing planning, product release and final deployment.

Key Achievements In cooperation with Asset Team, in 2008, Asset was
