Professor Andrei Faraon Dr. Andrei Faraon (BS Physics Caltech 2004; PhD Applied Physics Stanford 2009) is an Assistant Professor of Applied Physics at Caltech. Before coming to Caltech, Dr. Faraon spent three years as a postdoctoral fellow at Hewlett Packard Laboratories. Dr. Faraon authored more than 40 peer-reviewed research articles (including in Nature, Science, Nature Photonics, Nature Physics, Nature Nanotechnology, Physical Review Letters) with more than 3000 citations. He also co-authored three book chapters and more than 20 patents and invention disclosures. Dr.Faraon is the recipient of the NSF CAREER award, the AFOSR Young Investigator Award and the ONR Young Investigator Award. At Caltech he does research in optics at the nano-scale. Dr. Faraon was named the 2016 KNI-Wheatley Scholar in Nanoscience for his proposal to study the disruptive potential of metasurfaces and their potential use in novel optical imaging systems.
