COURSE SYNOPSIS

The Professional Certificate in Real Estate Investing (PCREI) will equip participants with a deep knowledge and understanding of the real estate market and the capital markets. Course participants will acquire critical concepts and skills relevant in the Singapore real estate industry. The PCREI is tailored towards practical relevance.

This programme will benefit entry level professionals, insurance agents, property agents and executive staff employed by REITs, private real estate funds, real estate investment companies, property development companies, real estate consultants, investment banks, financial institutions, and government agencies. Candidates with no prior real estate experience will benefit significantly from this course.

TRAINER PROFILE

Mr. Clement Ong, CFA

Head of Strategic Planning and Investment, Banyan Tree Group

Clement Ong, CFA, has approximately fifteen years of Real Estate experience ranging from research, investment banking, private equity, financial planning and analysis. He has completed multiple real estate feasibility studies and investment transactions in key gateway cities.

Clement currently heads the Strategic Planning and Investment Unit in the Banyan Tree Group. Prior to joining Banyan Tree, he was a Real Estate Investment Banker with JP Morgan and a REIT Analyst with Phillip Capital.

Clement graduated with a 1st Class Honours Bachelor in Civil and Structure Engineering from the National University of Singapore and is also a CFA charterholder. Clement participated in the judging panel for Asia Property Awards – Singapore from 2013 to 2018.

Mr. Benedict Andrew Lim

Independent M&A Advisor

Benedict Andrew Lim is an independent M&A advisor in the real estate industry with more than 24 years of professional experience. In his recent role, Benedict was the Partner and Managing Director of EY Corporate Finance where he was the Real Estate M&A Leader for South East Asia. He has more than USD8B of Real Estate transaction experience and had managed USD5b of multi-asset AUM in his senior executive roles with Mubadala, HP, ING Real Estate, Mapletree Investments and Jones Lang LaSalle.

A qualified international arbitrator and a certified Management Consultant, Benedict has direct experience in master planning, acquisition, asset management, divestment, corporate real estate and portfolio management for various asset types. He is also an adjunct faculty for more than 10 years with Singapore University of Social Sciences and specialises in portfolio management, investment finance and equity valuation.

Professor Roy Ling

Programme Director for the Professional Certificate in Real Estate Investing at SMU Academy

Professor Roy Ling serves as the Programme Director for the Professional Certificate in Real Estate Investing awarded by SMU Academy. Concurrently, he also serves as a Managing Director of RL Capital Management, an Independent Board Director at Vingroup JSC, and as an Adjunct Professor in Finance at the SKEMA Business School.

Prof. Ling also spent more than 20 years in investment banking and held senior positions with JPMorgan, Lehman Brothers, Goldman Sachs and Salomon Smith Barney. His expertise is in Asia real estate, REIT IPOs and capital markets. During his investment banking career, Prof. Ling has originated and executed a broad range of advisory (>US$40 billion) and capital market transactions (>US$20 billion) including some of the most high profile transactions in the region.

Mr. Anthony Koh

CEO & Founder, MC Payment

Anthony Koh is a visionary, thought leader and techno-preneur. He has filed 3 patents and has vast experience in financial technology industry. He co-founded MCPAYMENT in 2005, a regional financial technology company specialised in Merchant Payment Services and providing digital enabling services. As a group CEO, he provides strategic direction, growth and expansion plans to the company. The company was acquired by a list-co for $80M. Anthony Koh is also the founding member of Singapore Digital Chamber of Commerce and was appointed to the Board. In 2012, Anthony Koh was invited as one of the key speakers in Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Start-up Conference held in Seoul.
