Proceedings of the 2006 Meeting of the American Alliance of Academic Chief Residents in Radiology (A 3 CR 2 ) More than 160 residents participated in the 2006 A 3 CR 2 (A3) program at the 2006 AUR. Resident attendance was strong throughout the program. The Critical Thinking Skills session on the first morn- ing of the meeting was so popular as to be oversub- scribed, necessitating extra seating and more small-group moderators. The session interactively taught evidence- based practice and was a valuable lesion in the ACGME core competencies of systems practice and evidence-based medicine. The A3/APDR presented the Brogden panel, which discussed defining the role of the chief resident in radiol- ogy. An informal interactive reception with the APDR members fostered further discussion on a one-on-one ba- sis. Harvey L. Neiman conducted the ACR session with the residents responding to their questions and concerns and major issues as perceived by the ACR. The ABR session featured an in-depth update on the maintenance of certification issues as well as a follow-up discussion on the teaching and testing of radiological physics. The problem-solving topics; “The Future of Interven- tional Radiology” and “Preparation of Residents for the Private Practice of Radiology,” were discussed, and then the work products were presented to the APDR at a round-table session. A written summary of the discussions is submitted for publication. The film panels were excellent. The material will be placed on the A3 Website for use in teaching confer- ences. The level of satisfaction in the discussions and presentations of the clinical material was impressive. Newly added sessions on the “Board Examiner” and “Issues Surrounding the Chief Residency” rounded out the program. A new steering committee was selected, and Robert Tarvor from Indiana was added as a faculty advi- sor. A3 is alive and well, looking forward to continuing to represent the residents’ view and to enhance the AUR annual meeting. Wilbur L.
