Press Release, Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority organized a five city Roadshow In order to promote Mauritius as leisure, MICE and wedding destination in the Indian market, Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority organized a five city Roadshows from 22nd to 27th August 2016. under the theme “Discover Mauritius”.The cities covered were Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Bengaluru and Chennai.The multi-city roadshow, with 30 suppliers from Mauritius, including hotels, DMCs and activity companies was well attended by nearly 1000 participants from the Indian travel trade, who had an opportunity to become acquainted with the most popular destination and activities that Mauritius has to offer to the Indian travellers. Speaking on the occasion, Kevin Ramkaloan, Director MTPA, said, “We are following the Government’s policy to move from a hotel based to an attraction based destination. The Indian tourists are now looking for more and more sophisticated experiential holidays and are going for a lot of activities. The Indian market, which had a slow growth earlier, grew by a fantastic 18% last year and we hope to continue the same trend this year. The target is to get 100,000 tourists from India in 2017. One of the key events this year, from 2nd to 4th December, will be Porlwi by light where the entire capital city will turn into an events platform with visual mapping, street art and street food.” “The Island has direct air connectivity from cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai and Bengaluru and free visa on arrival for Indians. He added that these conveniences will definitely help to increase MICE movement from India. MTPA is also positioning Mauritius as the best golf destination in the Indian Ocean. Mauritius is one of the top golfing destination in the world as it offers world class championship courses, pleasant sunny weather and a beautiful natural setting. Most of the golf courses are set up in a splendid environment between the sea and the mountain or at a private islet. The island has nine 18- hole golf courses and five nine-hole golf courses, each of which provides a unique golfing experience to the players.” Vivek Anand, Country Manager MTPA India, said, “The Mauritian stakeholders had an excellent opportunity to network with the Indian travel fraternity and wedding planners and showcase their interesting offers to attract the Indian traveller.” Vivek Anand, while talking about Mauritius as a wedding destination said “Mauritius is an ideal wedding spot for couples seeking to tie the knot in a uniquely picturesque location as the island has gorgeous white sand beaches, cobalt blue lagoons, warm tropical climate, and distinctive cultural diversity. Most hotels offer extensive wedding and honeymoon packages and have their own experienced wedding coordinator who will help to organise the wedding to the last detail. With additional capacity being added by Air Mauritius, we will certainly see a spurt in MICE movements and a lot of big fat Indian weddings staged there.”

Press Release, Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority organized a five city Roadshow

In order to promote Mauritius as leisure, MICE and wedding destination in the Indian market, Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority organized a five city Roadshows from 22nd to 27th August 2016. under the theme “Discover Mauritius”.The cities covered were Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Bengaluru and Chennai.The multi-city roadshow, with 30 suppliers from Mauritius, including hotels, DMCs and activity companies was well attended by nearly 1000 participants from the Indian travel trade, who had an opportunity to become acquainted with the most popular destination and activities that Mauritius has to offer to the Indian travellers.
