The Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical CollegePresidential Scholars Program is a unique, one-year honors program designed for recent highschool graduates attending college for the firsttime who plan to obtain a four-year degree.Participants must have at least a 3.0 high schoolgrade point average and meet OCtech’srequirements to take transfer-level collegecourses.

Students participating in the program will take 30or more hours of general education courses thatwill transfer to their chosen four-year college oruniversity based on customized, preferentialadvising provided by trained OCtech faculty. Youracademic advisor will work with the AdmissionsOffice of your chosen transfer college to developyour course plan. (Admission to certain programsmay have separate or additional requirements.)

TUITION SAVINGSAttending one year at OCtech can save a stu-dent thousands of dollars! In fact, an entire yearof college at OCtech costs less than just one semester at most four-year colleges.

In addition, students who have received the LifeScholarship can attend OCtech for little to nocost as the scholarship covers almost all tuitionand fees!

nOCtech offers courses guaranteed to transfer tofour-year colleges and universities that demonstratethe same quality and high-expectations of thetransfer colleges.

nParticipants will attend a weekly seminar classdesigned to prepare them for transfer. Topics willinclude study skills, time management, financialliteracy, employability skills, and many others.

nParticipants will build an electronic portfolio oftheir work and activities while students at OCtech.This work will meet the general educationdocumentation requirements now in effect at manyfour-year colleges.

nParticipants will be given an opportunity tocomplete a summer internship at a local business ORcomplete a study abroad tour for college credit.

nParticipants will learn leadership skills byparticipating in campus and community serviceactivities.

nParticipants will complete job shadowing activities,learn from guest speakers including local businessleaders, and attend educational seminars.

nStudents will participate in tours of their chosentransfer college during which they will meet facultyand students, sit in on a class at the college, and talkwith academic and financial aid advisors.

nStudents will build a network of friends in theprogram as they learn, work, and have fun together.
