    LAND CLEARANCE

    Land Clearance means taking permission from the

    Government authorities to use land for industrial or for some

    other commercial purpose.

    It is a very lengthy procedure which starts with finding of

    location and ends with the registration of the land.

    Trade License is a license issued by the Superintendent of

    Tax and Exciseof any District which gives the permission tocarry on the particular trade or business for which it is

    issued.

    This service can be availed by those who are the domicile of

    the concerned district.

    CENTRAL EXCISE REGISTRATION

    An exciseor excise tax (sometimes called a of excise special

    tax) is an inland tax on the sale, or production for sale, of

    specific goods or a tax on a good produced for sale, or sold,

    within a country.

    As per section 3 of Central Excise Act (CEA)

    excise duty is levied if: -

    1) There is a good.

    2) Goods must be moveable

    3) Goods are marketable and made in India.

    4) Goods are mentioned in the Central

    Excise Tariff Act (CETA).

    REGISTRATION PROCEDURE

    STEP

    1.

    Application for registration to the AssistantCommissioner or Deputy Commissioner in duplicate.

    STEP.

    Accompanied by a self-attested copy of PermanentAccount Number (PAN) and payment of fees.

    the excise department allots the registrationcertificate within 7 days.

    The registration certificate mentions the Excise Control Code(ECC), the ECC is a 15 digit number which has first 10 digits of

    PAN, next two digits are either XMfor manufacturer or XD

    for dealer and the last three digits are number like 001,002 etc.

    ISI CERTIFICATION

    The Product Certification Scheme of BIS aims at providing

    guarantee of quality, safety and reliability of products to the

    ultimate customer.

    Presence of ISI certification mark known as Standard Mark on a

    product is an assurance of conformity to the specifications.

    FACTORIES ACT 1948

    (1) This Act may be called the Factories Act, 1948.(2) It extends to the whole of India.

    (3) It shall come into force on the 1st day of April, 1949.

    All the industries or factories established or will going to be

    established have to comply with all the provisions covered

    under the Factories Act 1948.

    OBJECTIVES OF FACTORIES ACT 1948

    To ensure adequate safety measures and to promote the health and

    welfare of the workers employed in factories.

    To prevent haphazard growth of factories through the provisions

    related to the approval of plans before the creation of a factory.

    To regulate the working condition in factories, regulate the working

    hours, leave, holidays, overtime, employment of children, women and

    young persons etc.
