Prerequisites to A.P. Calculus AB—Chapter P

Welcome to Advanced Placement Calculus AB. Chapter P is a review of the topics and fundamental skills needed in order to be successful in AP Calculus. The assignment below is to be completed and ready for inspection on the first day of school, Wednesday, August 22, 2012 (an A day), or Thursday, August 23 (a B day). You may make full use of the examples found in the textbook pages for assistance, as well as the online solutions. Your grade will be based upon accuracy and degree of completion and neatness. You may work alone or with others so as to compare methods and answers. If you have asked a friend for help and are still stumped on a question or two, please email me at [email protected]. There will be a large quiz on the entire Chapter P on about the third day of school. I highly recommend that you establish a working relationship with an acquaintance in this class with whom you can regularly collaborate throughout next year, as this will make the internalization of knowledge and skills more productive and may therefore increase the likelihood of better performance on the A.P. Calculus test on Wednesday, May 8, 2013. Additionally, it will be imperative throughout the school year that you consistently review newly acquired information and concepts. It cannot emphasized too strongly the meaning and value of reviewing early, often and consistently. Do not procrastinate in this regard. Have a great summer. I join my colleagues in looking forward to an exciting 2012–13 school year!
