The company, which was launched in 2000, uses SpeechWorks’ SpeechSecure speaker verification technology at the heart of its biometric-based authentication solution VOICE.TRUST Server. VOICE.TRUST Server is a telephone-based system that combines speech recognition and speaker verification. After acquiring a caller’s claimed ID from the opening dialogue using speech recognition, SpeechWorks’ speaker verification technology is used to compare the caller’s voiceprint against a previously-compiled reference model. Launched in 2000, VOICE.TRUST is a relatively new player on the speaker verification block and has around 25 staff. Its main deals to date have primarily been in Germany – most notably with a large German insurance group last year. Revenue from this deal enabled the company to launch its first packaged product VOICE.TRUST Server, which signified the company’s emergence into the biometric market, a spokesman at the company told Btt. All the deals the company has secured to date use the technology as a password-reset tool and have been with large clients, where the business case for using the technology is obvious. However, the technology can also be used for two-factor authentication, authentication for remote access or single sign-on and PKI profile recovery. The company is keen to penetrate the European market. In particular, the supplier will target the UK and France through a network of local partners. VOICE.TRUST is putting a great deal of effort into product development, and is working with a number of German universities to refine the performance of its algorithms.
