Come, Holy Spirit

Come, Holy SpiritFill the hearts of your faithfulAnd kindle in them the fire of your love.

Send forth Your Spirit, O Lord, and they shall be created. And You will renew the face of the earth.

Let us pray. O God, who taught the hearts of the faithful by the light of the Holy Spirit,

grant that, by the gift of the same Spirit, we may always be truly wise, and ever rejoice in His consolation.

Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Memorare

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known

that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help

or sought your intercession, was left unaided.

Inspired with this confidence,I fly to you, O Virgin of virgins, my

Mother;to you do I come,

before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful.

O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy hear and answer me. Amen

Amen.

The Prayer Of Mary My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour

for he has looked with favour on his lowly servant: from this day forward, all generations will call me blessed:

for the Almighty has done great things for me, and holy is his Name.

He has mercy on those who fear himin every generation.

He has shown the strength of his arm,he has scattered the proud in their conceit.

He has cast down the mighty from their thrones, and has lifted up the lowly.

He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty.

He has come to the help of his servant Israel, for he remembered his promise of mercy, the promise he made to our fathers,to Abraham and his children forever.

(Lk 1:46-55)

May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan, and all the evil spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen..

Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness: for they will be satisfied. Blessed are the merciful: for they will be shown mercy Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called children of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Before ever a word is on my tongue,You know it O Lord, through and through.

God has created me to do him some definite service; He has committed some work to mewhich he has not committed to another.

I have my mission – I may never know it in this life, but I shall be told it in the next.

I have a part in this great work; I am a link in a chain,a bond of connection between persons.

He has not created me for naught.

I shall do good, I shall do his work;I shall be an angel of peace,a preacher of the truth in my own place, while not intending it,

if I do but keep his commandmentsand serve him in my calling. Therefore I will trust him.

Whatever, wherever I am,I can never be thrown away.

I ask not to see,I ask not to know,I ask simply to be used.

Blessed John Henry Newman’s prayer for vocation

Prayer of St Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.Where there is hatred, let me sow love;where there is injury, pardon;where there is doubt, faith;where there is despair, hope;where there is darkness, light;and where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seekto be consoled as to console;to be understood as to understand;to be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive;it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;and it is in dying

that we are born to eternal life. Amen

Jesus, love, Jesus, love. Amen.

St Aquinas’ Prayer before Study

Pour upon the darkness of my mind a ray of your brightness and clear me of the twofold darkness of sin and ignorance, in which I was born.

Thou, Who made the dumb to speak, pour on my lips the grace of Thy

blessing.

Give me a quick understanding, ability to remember

accuracy in explaining, ease in learning.

Direct my progress and perfect the completion of my task: You who are true God and true man, who live and reign world without end. Amen.

Who, out of the treasures of Your wisdom have most wisely

ordered the Universe,

St Gregory the GreatIt is only right, with all the powers of our heart and mind, to praise You, Father, and Your Only-Begotten Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Dear Father, by Your wondrous loving-kindness toward us, You gave up Your Son.

Dear Jesus, in loving-kindness You poured forth your blood and cleared away the darkness of sin by Your magnificent and radiant Resurrection.

You broke the bonds of death and rose from the grave as a Conqueror. You reconciled heaven and earth.

Your Resurrection has washed away our sins, restored our innocence and brought us joy.

How immeasurable is the tenderness of Your Love!

Amen.

Hindu prayer of RepentanceWe repent, O God most merciful, for all our sins;

for every thought that was false or unjust or unclean;for every word spoken that ought not to have been spoken; and for every deed done that ought not to have been done; In your unbounded mercy,

we ask you to forgive us, o God, for all these sins committed by us,

and to forgive us for our constant failuresto think and speak and act according to your will.

Meher Baba - 1951

We repent most specially for every lustful thought and every lustful action;for every lie; for all hypocrisy;

for every promise given but not fulfilled, and for all slander and backbiting.

We repent for every deed and word and thought inspired by selfishness, and for every deed and word and thought inspired by hatred.

Most especially also, we repent for every action that has brought ruin to others, for every word and deed that has given others pain;and for every wish that pain should befall others.

In the Name of Allah, the All-merciful, the All-

compassionateMy God, to Thee I complain of a soul commanding to evil, rushing to offences, eager to disobey Thee, and exposing itself to Thy anger.

It takes me on the roads of disasters; when evil touches it, it is anxious; when good touches it, grudging.

Inclined to distraction, full of heedlessness and inattention,

it hurries me to misdeeds and makes me delay repentance.

My God, there is no force and no strength except in Thy power. So I ask Thee by Thy far-reaching wisdom and Thy penetrating will :

Be for me a helper against enemies, a coverer of shameful things and faults, a protector against afflictions, a preserver against acts of disobedience!

By Thy clemency and mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful.
