Ang Kabisaan ng Alternatibong Pagtuturong “Understanding by Design (UBD)” sa Natamong Akademiko sa Filipino para sa Ikatlong Taong Mag-aaral ng NVGCHS

ANG SULIRANIN AT ANG KALAGAYAN NITO

Ang mga mag-aaral sa panahon noon at ngayon ay may malaking pagkakaiba. Bunga ito sa kaibahan ng mga dulog at estratehiyang ginagamit ng guro sa pagtuturo. Kadalasan, marami sa ating mga mag-aaral ay may kanya-kanyang pang-unawa sa bawat ipinapakitang dulog ng guro na kung hindi mabisa ay nagdudulot ng kakulangan o kawalan ng interes sa kanilang pag-aaral.


Kung noong una ay salat tayo sa kaalama’t karunungan sa paggamit ng mga makabagong teknolohiyang pampagtuturo, ngayon ay hindi na. Ang mga kakanyahang ito ay taglay na rin ng maraming guro sa makabagong pamamaraan ng pagtuturo.

Malaking tulong sa mga mag-aaral ang alternatibong pagtuturo sapagkat napapadali nito ang pang-unawa sa mga aralin dulot ng gising na diwa at masiglang pakikilahok sa mga gawain naiatang sa kanila sa loob ng silid-aralan.


Modernong pagtuturo at teknolohikal na pagbabago sa ika-21 siglo ang pokus ng kumpetisyon sa mga paaralan ngayon, Hidalgo (2000). Ang modernong pagtuturo ay ganap na malaman ang mga pakinabang sa mga mag-aaral at guro. Mas pinalawak nito ang mga konsepto sapagkat mas nakikita ng mga mag-aaral ang nais ipahiwatig ng tiyak na paksa.


Ngunit hindi rin maiiwasan na patuloy pa ring ginagamit ang tradisyunal na pagtuturo sapagkat ito ang ating kinagisnan at kinalakihan. Dito tayo unang natuto ng mga pangunahing konsepto patungo sa mga malalaking paksa at kaalaman. Tradisyunal man ang gamit sa pagtuturo ngunit may marami rin tayong natutunan at naintindihan.


Ayon kay Novak (1998), “ang tradisyunal na pagtuturo ay nakapukos sa guro bilang taga-konrol sa kapaligiran ng mga mag-aaral.” Sa ganitong pagtuturo, nasa guro ang responsibilidad at sa kanya ang paraan at mga estratehiyang gagamitin sa pagtuturo sa kanyang mag-aaral. Sa ganitong uri ng pagtuturo, ang guro ang siyang tinaguriang controller sa silid-aralan.


Dahil sa ganitong sitwasyon, hindi maiiwasan na ang tinatagong galing ng mag-aaral sa iba’t ibang kakayahan ay hindi mahahasa at malilinang. Nagkakaroon rin ng problema sa mga impormasyong inilalahad ng guro. Dahil kadalasan ay nakabatay sa mga sinaunang nakalimbag na aklat.


Samakatuwid ang nagaganap sa pagtuturong ito ay ang tinatawag nilang “spoon-feeding of knowledge”. Hindi napapalawak ng guro ang kanyang karaniwang paksa dahil sa nakabase lang siya sa tradisyunal na paraan.


Ang alternatibong pagtuturo ay tinatawag ding makabagong pamamaraan sa pagtuturo sa paaralan. Sinasaklaw nito ang iba’t ibang dulog at stratehiya na ginagamit sa pagtuturo-pagkatuto sa mga mag-aaral. Ito ay nag-uugat mula sa iba’t ibang pilosopiya na nagtataglay ng pangunahing kaisipan na naiiba sa tradisyunal na pamamaraan.


Kadalasan ay nagkaroon ng mga kaisipang politikal, pilosopikal at akademikong kasanayan. Ito ay may malaking impluwensiya sa malawakang pagkatuto ng isang mag-aaral. Ang pananaliksik na ito ay nakapokus sa kakayahan ng mga mag-aaral na kung saan sila mas umaangat.


Sa paggamit ba ng tradisyunal na pagtuturo o gamit ang alternatibong pagtuturo na “Understanding by Design (UBD).” Ang dalawang pampagtuturong ito ay gagawing sa paksang Dulang Maikling Kuwento.

PANGUNAHING LAYUNIN

Ang pangunahing layunin sa pag-aaral na ito ay ang paghambingin ang kabisaan ng pagtuturong gamit ang tradisyonal at alternatibong pagtuturong “Understanding by Design (UBD)” sa Dulang Maikling Kuwento.

Parents. This study will help them to properly manage their child at home in assisting him/her as he/she makes the best out of his/her potentials and abilities as an individual.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY


Future ResearchersThe study can be used as an

avenue for future researchers to develop the teaching-learning process in the field of chemistry for a diverse culture in a wide number of populations.



Preschoolers. This study will help them to be molded on the best that they can be from being handled by the guided teachers and parents.



Preschool Teachers. This study will help them to be effective educators in handling different students treated with different parenting styles.



Nursing Students. This study enhances nursing students’ learning in the field of Pediatrics. The results suggest helpful health education to their future clients (teachers and parents) regarding preschool development.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDYSignificant findings of the study will be

useful to

Future Researchers. This research will serve as a springboard for other related studies they are interested to. This may serve as a basis for other purposes.

SUBJECT OF THE STUDY

This research study was conducted at Saint Mary’s University Elementary Department during the School Year 2011-2012. The subject of the study are: Preschoolers in 2 Kindergarten

SCOPE AND DELIMITATION

All of the 55 students were used as sample in conducting the survey using purposive sampling technique. This study limits its coverage to the Kinder 2 pupils only. With the limited time to conduct the study, the preschoolers’ school performance were measured through their latest major exam/ Periodical exam.

SCOPE AND DELIMITATION

The study aims to identify the relationship between the socioeconomic status of the fathers and the preschoolers’ school performance, and the fathers’ parenting styles and the preschoolers’ school performance. This study considered the determinants of socioeconomic status and the fathers’ parenting styles which were compared to the preschoolers’ school performance for a correlational study. Each of the respondents was given same questionnaires to answer. The respondents of the study are the fathers of the Kinder 2 pupils of Saint Mary’s University Grade School Department.
