    Bio:

AYABA, is one of the oldest roads of the Orisha Yemojaand it means "WIFE UVH THA KING" Ayaba is also knownas Rainbow/Net-Hetep. She has been writing andperforming spoken word/poetry since childhood. Born in afamily of thirteen, she is the 12th child and daughter of apreacher man. Ayaba grew up during the days ofsegregation/civil rights movement/the beginning ofintergration... She is no stranger to the harsh racial wordsand remembers vividly what it was like being called,"nigger" as her school bus in Oklahoma City, Oklahomapulled into the all white school's parking lot where she wasgreeted with the harshest of racial slurs that stalked herthroughout her many days in what once was an ALLWHITE SCHOOL. She has seen many things and theinfluences that inspire her spoken word/poetic spewingsare Vast. Can you say "THOUGHT INVOKING?" Then youwill surely think of AYABA whenever you dare yourself toface the silent witnesses of SEX and RACE. SEX andRACE is dedicated to J.A. Rogers (1883-1966). JoelAugustus Rogers (September 6, 1880 (some sources say1883 [1] [2]) September 6, 1966) was born in Negril,Jamaica and migrated to the United States in 1911. He

worked as Pullman porter while trying to establish a career as a journalist and lay historian ofAfrican history, biography and race relations. Rogers' first book, From "Superman" to Man, self-published in (1917), attacked notions of African inferiority. In the 1920's he worked as a

journalist on the Pittsburgh Courier, the Chicago Entrerprise, was a sub-editor of MarcusGarvey's short-lived Daily Negro Times in 1922 and made contributions to Negro World. In 1947he published a collection of biographies as World's Great Men of Color. Rogers was a

meticulous researcher, astute scholar and very concise writer. He traveled tirelessly on hisquest for knowledge which often took him directly to the source for information for his books. While traveling in Europe he frequented libraries, museums, castles and many places of interestthat would help to prove Africans had an ancestry and history that the world could and shouldbe proud of. He challenged the biased viewpoint of Eurocentric historians and anthropologisteventually destroying the myth of African inferiority through his books Sex and Race Vol. I-III.Rogers worked to prove that color of skin is not what determines intellectual genius and thatAfricans have contributed much more to the world than what was previously stated. Most of thiswas brought forth through his work, From Superman to Man, in which exposed the extremecontradiction in American political and social environments in The Five Negro Presidents.Rogers was self-financed, self educated, self-published. His collections of works are enormousexstensive complete with detailed references documented ever so carefully to prevent scrutiny

of his facts are a testament to his due diligence, work ethic and commitment to not only Africanpeople, but the world, its history and culture. Rogers contributions have not been fullyunderstood and may not be for some time to come. Rogers was one of the first to detail thelineage of the Queen of England to the Moorish Queen Charlotte Sophia Consort of Kinf WilliamIII of England. Rogers interviewed Marcus Garvey in prison (New York Amsterdam News, 17November 1926). Joel Augustus Rogers died on his birthday, 6 September 1966. IBA SE OBAEGUN JOEL AUGUSTUS ROGERS...FUN WA NI IRE!!! FUN WA NI IWA PELE, EGUNGUNMI!!! ASE WA!!! ASE TO TO TO!!!!

eye was so tired in this pic. eye had stayed up very late to get my Ayaba's one uvh a kind

cowrie shell creations ready for a jewellry show the next day downtown. the baby that eye amholdin is one of my many godchildren whom the doctors said would not live thru the nite whenhe was first born in St. Louis, Mo. His grandmother called me in OKC to ask for advice onhealing him and eye advised her to do certain things for him thru the night and he survived it toonly the doctors surprise---not ours!!! eye continued to advise her during the first six weeks ofhis precious life and he grew stronger each day. then eye went to hold my lil' warrior andintroduce myself to him in the flesh as we had only met each other on the ethereal plane duringmy long distant healing sessions with him. in the other pic, it is the celebration day of mygrandson's coming out day. in yoruba no one is to see the newborn for at least 17 Ifa days norknow the baby's name until the completion of his 17th day and then an official namingannouncement is made with a great celebration. many of my friends came from other states tocelebrate his DAY with us.
