ABOUT US
OUR MAIN POSTULATES:Better economic laws
Friendly climate for entrepreneurship
Cheaper and more effective state
Development of social dialogue
We are the most influential Polish business organisation representing employers’ interests in Poland and in the European Union. Our aim is to support companies’ development. We strive for stable economic growth, better legislation, healthy competition, more jobs and reinforced social capital. We associate 3,900 companies, which employ 835,000 workers.
Our mission is to provide the best business con-ditions and support companies’ competitiveness. For this reason, we are active in Poland, in the European Union and internationally. We are the only Polish employers’ organisation with an office in Brussels since 2001. We also are a member of BUSINESSEUROPE, an organisation representing European employers’ interests (41 business organ-isations from 35 countries, associating companies which employ 120 million workers). Our team of experienced experts and advisors cooperates with decision-makers on an ongoing basis. Lewiatan representatives sit on 450 councils, committees, groups and other decision-making bodies, among
others: European Commission, Economic Council for the Prime Minister, BIAC, European Social and Economic Committee, supervisory boards of the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) and the State Fund for Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons (PFRON), National Employment Council, and Pro-vincial Social Dialogue Committee (WKDS). We are a member of the Tripartite Commission. The confederation was founded in 1999. In 2004, we took over the tradition of a pre-war organisation of the Central Association of Polish Industry, Mining, Trade and Finance Lewiatan, and added the word “Lewiatan” to our name.

MONITORING We monitor changes in economic legislation at national and European level on an ongoing basis. We can quickly react to legislative proposals which are unfavourable for business.
CONSULTATIONSWe meet a new statutory duty to have legislative proposals consulted with us. In this way, we make sure that a new law is business friendly.
MEETINGS WITH DECISION-MAKERSEvery year we organise tens of meetings with ministers, heads of central offices and members of parliament, who have a direct impact on law and operational business conditions.
BLACK LIST OF BARRIERSEvery year, we submit a list of major law barriers in specific industries. We convey the list to decision-makers who use it for drafting law amendments.
WORK IN COMMITTEESLewiatan experts take part in works of parliamen-tary committees and subcommittees. In this way, we can effectively influence the quality of law in order to make it as friendly for entrepreneurs as possible.
REPRESENTATIVESWe have representatives in over 450 decision bodies, among others: Tripartite Commission, Monitoring Committees, Provincial Social Dialog Committee (WKDS), Labour Market Councils, supervisory boards (Social Insurance Institution – ZUS, and State Fund for Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons – PFRON) as well as at international level (BUSINESSEUROPE, BIAC, ESEC, European Commission).
BRUSSELS OFFICEWe are the only Polish employers’ organisation with an office in Brussels since 2001. We actively participate in the EU legislative process, thanks to which our members can influence European economic policy.
ISSUING OPINIONS Every year, jointly with our members, we prepare over 200 opinions and position papers about legislative proposals.
REQUESTS TO THE CONSTITUTIONAL COURTWe make use of the right to challenge the law which breaches the constitution before the Constitutional Court.
LEGISLATIVE PROPOSALSWe cooperate with member companies in the process of creating law which fosters business development in Poland.
LEGISLATIONWe influence the law and economic policy in order to make it friendlier for entrepreneurs. We have been developing our experts’ competences and know-how as well as relations with decision-makers for over 15 years. This is why we produce results.

CONTACTS WITH THE MEDIAWe inform about Lewiatan activities in the media on an ongoing basis. The strength of our brand makes us leaders of business organisations in terms of the number of citations. In 2013, we had over 20,000 citations, we sent 320 press releases, organised 45 press conferences and newspapers have published 42 articles of our experts. We make sure our members are present in the media.
CAMPAIGNS AND COALITIONSWe have organised much awarded campaigns such as “Przedsiębiorcy tworzą” (promoting a positive image of entrepreneurs) and “Zmień kraj, idź na wybory” (a coalition campaign encouraging voting in the elections). We consider the needs of our members, e.g. we launched a campaign “Zostaję w OFE” (“I’m staying in OFE”) for all General Pensions Societies, and we promoted the usage of e-invoices as part of the coalition of companies “Wybieram e-faktury”. Every time we run a campaign, we issue a call for tenders for contractors, coordinate the purchase of media and audit, provide legal services, build a PR strategy, etc.
PARTNERSHIPSWe engage in long-term partner projects, initiated and coordinated by our members. Lewiatan’s participation entails technical and communication assistance. It also enhances the credibility of initiatives in the eyes of decision-makers.
PATRONAGE Projects conducted by our members can be covered by Lewiatan’s patronage. In case of commercial events, our members receive a discount for patronage.
EXPERT PROJECTSTogether with our members, we run substantive projects – we produce industry-specific reports (e.g. development perspectives, legal obstacles, good practices) and conduct studies (e.g. “Monitoring the situation of SMEs”, large companies, innovations), etc. Launching a project in cooperation with Lewiatan makes the promotion more effective and allows you to reach more decision-makers.
