Pointek CLS500 is a 2-wire capacitance point level switch for detecting interfaces, solids, liquids, slurries and viscous materials in critical conditions of extreme temperature and extreme pressure.

Notes: Installation shall only be performed by qualified personnel and in accordance with local
governing regulations. This product is susceptible to electrostatic shock. Follow proper grounding procedures. This housing may only be opened for maintenance, local operation, or electrical
installation. Before installing the instrument, verify that the environment complies with any restrictions
specified on the device nameplate.
Disconnect the device before any welding is carried out in the vicinity of the instrument.
Provide protection diodes when the solid state switch is activating an external relay to prevent possible switch/relay damage resulting from inductive spikes generated by the relay coil.
Notes: Keep the probe or probe tip at least 50 mm (2") away from any nozzle or tank wall. If multiple units are used, allow at least 500 mm (20") between them, to prevent
interference (mount diagonally if space is restricted).

Standard configuration with extensions: top mounting
Designed for top mounting, for high or low level alarm. Mount the probe vertically so that it reaches into the process at the desired detection level.
Process Cautions The maximum allowable torque on a horizontally installed rod is 30 Nm. Keep unit out of path of falling material, or protect probe from falling material. Avoid areas where material build up occurs. Take into account material surface configuration when installing unit. Ensure tensile load does not exceed probe or vessel ratings
Mounting InstructionsPointek CLS500 is available in three thread types: NPT, or R (BSPT), or G (BSPP). Make sure the mounting connection threads are of the same type, then simply screw the device into the process connection, and hand tighten.

1. Loosen the retaining set-screw and remove the enclosure cover.
2. Loosen the cable gland and thread the cable through it.
3. Connect the power / signal conductor wires to the current loop terminal block (any polarity). For effective electromagnetic compatibility performance, ensure that the filter assembly remains installed. When wiring the current loop, ensure that each terminal block entry houses a power wire, and one line of the filter assembly.
4. Ground the enclosure.
5. Check to ensure all connections are good.
6. Tighten the cable gland to form a good seal.
All field wiring must have insulation suitable for voltage to be applied. Turn off power before servicing any device. Please check the ambient and operating temperatures in the Operating
Instructions for the specific configuration you are about to use or install. In potentially explosive atmospheres, open the enclosure only when Pointek
CLS500 is not energized.Notes: The transmitter is in operation when the power supply is switched on. Only qualified personnel are authorized to install and operate this equipment in
accordance with established safety practices and standards. The Protective Earth Terminal must be connected to reliable ground. A circuit breaker or switch in the building installation, marked as a disconnect
switch, shall be in close proximity to the equipment and within easy reach of the operator.
WARNING: Damage or removal of the protective label voids the warranty for the Pointek CLS500.

7. Replace the enclosure cover and tighten the retaining set-screw.
WARNINGS: Do not scratch or gouge the electrode insulation since this could
reduce the integrity of the insulation and the useful life of the electrode.
Do not damage the insulating sleeve on the electrode during shipping, packing, and installation. Any damage to the electrode can prevent proper performance.
(ATEX 95): Precautions MUST be taken to avoid ignition due to hazardous electrostatic discharges:
a. where an isolated probe is used in gas, vapor, or a non-conductive liquid that is potentially explosive, requiring apparatus group IIC equipment
b. where the probe is used in a potentially explosive dusty atmosphere
