Merry Christmas to you and your families, Christmas 2015

Christmas is the “most wonderful time of the year.” The annual celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ brings joy,

hope and love into our lives. We celebrate with prayer, family, good foods and presents that remind of the gift God

gave to us.

Our parish gift to you at the Christmas Masses is Rediscover Jesus, by Matthew Kelly. This book is a good primer

on developing a personal relationship with Christ. The chapters are short, well written and understandable to all. Af-

ter reading it, you may want to pass it on to someone else whom you think may enjoy it. We are so blessed to have

good books coming into our lives.

As the year ends, we must thank God for the successful Our Family, Our Faith, Our Future combined campaign

conducted in 2015. We are grateful for the large numbers of families who made a sacrificial gift. This huge undertak-

ing is going to allow us to move into the future with much better facilities and opportunities. It will be a significant

blessing for our parish family.

In this Year of Mercy, we have Christ our Light Eucharistic adoration on First Thursday’s of the month at 6 p.m.

until First Friday at 6 a.m. Thanks to those who help create such a lovely ambiance to come and spend an hour or

more in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament.

Thanks for all the Christmas cards, gifts, prayers and goodies you have showered upon the priests. I am grateful for

your kindness, support and patience with me. It is a blessing to serve as your pastor.

Dear Martyrs Family,

May your hearts be warmed this Christmas Season as we turn toward the manger in Bethlehem. Our Savior came

to us small, humble, and poor, it is only fitting that we should go to Him in the same way. Only when we have

humbled ourselves in the sight of the Lord, only then will our Messiah truly come to us this Christmas. To do this

we must remind ourselves that Christmas is not about giving gifts it is about receiving the greatest gift of them all:

God's only Son. With my prayers, I wish you a safe travel season and unite my intentions to those of you and your

loved ones, especially those who are suffering. May you receive peace and comfort from the King of Kings, who

reigns not from a throne, but from a manger.
