Principal’s Report

Welcome back to school to all students from

Monday 25 May 2020. You would have heard the announcements in the media this week by the NSW Premier that all students in NSW will be returning to full time face to face learning starting Monday 25 May 2020. The staff at Campbelltown East Public School have been busy planning for the safe return of all students, this requires significant organisation for all stakeholders- students, parents/carers and teachers. Further information has been sent home to all parents/carers via email. If you did not receive this email, please contact the office via phone to obtain a copy. School attendance - All students should be at school unless: • They have a medical certificate which states that they are unable to return to school due to an ongoing medical condition • They are currently unwell. Students who have a medical certificate to stay at home will be supported to learn from home in line with regular procedures if they are able to. These regular procedures are different to what was offered during the learning from home period. Please note, students who live with a family member in one of the categories identified as being at increased risk by the AHPPC, should attend school unless a medical practitioner advises otherwise in writing. If your child is unwell, please do not send them to school. If they are unwell at school you or your nominated emergency contact will need to collect them immediately. Please make sure your contact details are up to date. If a student is absent without a medical reason for more than three days, this will be recorded as an unauthorised absence and followed up by the school. If you need any support to get your child back to school, please contact your school.

Returning of loaned iPads and chargers- To support all students /

families with On line learning at home, CEPS loaned over 90 iPads to families. Friday 22

May is the last day of on line learning. If your child/children loaned a school iPad and charger we ask that these are returned on Monday 25 May. Please contact the office if there are any issues with the return of iPads and charges. Updating contact details - COVID 19 has taught us the importance of communication between school and home. If you have changed your contact details including home address, email address or phone number could you please contact the school to update your information. Regards, Janene Cook Principal

If you did not receive an email with information of students return

Please see the letter in the newsletter or phone the school for further details

PBL Winners

Congratulations to the following winners

Kitara H KY ‘Safe’ Award

Kitara is a kind and helpful student who consistently demonstrates positive behaviour in the classroom and playground. She is always helpful towards her peers and willingly packs away activities to keep our classroom tidy and safe. She reminds her peers of our classroom rules and expectations and supports her peers during reading group activities. Kitara will always make sure her things are packed away and makes sure all chairs are pushed in and all the activities are packed away in the correct tubs. Well done on being so helpful and making our classroom a safe place Kitara! Keep up the great work.

Lilly M 5-6H

‘Respectful’ Award I am very proud of the way Lilly has begun 2020. She has taken on her role as prefect very seriously and leads by example each and every day. Lilly is prompt to and from her leadership responsibilities and always informs the teacher

should she need to leave the room. She arrives at school each day dressed in her full school uniform, and is prepared and ready to learn. Lilly regularly sits with her 5L’s and always puts up her hand to ask or answer a question. She has demonstrated strong and positive friendship qualities recently, as she has supported friends through difficult times. What outstanding effort, Lilly!

Gabrielle P 3-4W ‘Learner’ Award

Gabrielle is an enthusiastic member of the class who always seeks to be helpful. She is a conscientious and enthusiastic worker and completes given tasks to the best of her ability. Gabrielle has been enjoying the writing challenges offered to her in Year 3 and it is pleasing to note that she has retained her knowledge of text structure and writing techniques from Year 2 ready to build on for this year. SMOOSH

Dear Families, Carer’s & Service- users, Please be advised upon official and recent notification from DET, NSW schools will implement social distancing measures from Monday and cancelled assemblies, excursions, and travel, as well as some events and conferences in a bid to slow the spread of COVID-19. Thus incurring ALL SMOOSH VACATION CARE EXCURSIONS ARE CANCELLED. The booking form will remain the same in case this is subject to change. Please be advised as current, all days remain open as centre days (only) and remain at $50.00 per day and days where lunch is provided an additional of $10.00 (only) If there are any questions or feedback, please let me know. I will be in contact if anything is subject further to change.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION: Child Care Absences and COVID-19

Whether a child is actually ill or not, including where a child does not attend care as part of the family’s own precautionary measure against potential contact with COVID-19, CCS can be paid for up to 42 absence days per child, per financial year, without the need for families to provide documentation.

Once a child’s 42 initial absences have been used, CCS can be paid for additional absences for a reason defined in the Family Assistance Law, including illness Evidence is required to be kept by the provider for any additional absences claimed, e.g. a doctor’s certificate.

• If a child is not ill and does not attend care (as part of the family’s own precautionary measure against potential contact with COVID-19, some medical practitioners may support families by providing a medical certificate allowing them access to additional absences, if required.

• If a child is not ill and does not attend care for a longer period of time (for example, a month or longer), the family may wish to follow the established advice around longer absences, noting that an enrolment automatically ceases when a child does not attend care for 14 weeks).

What About Child Care Subsidies at the moment?

Child Care Subsidy (CCS) and Additional Child Care Subsidy (ACCS) are a family’s entitlement, based on their individual circumstances, used for subsidising the cost of childcare to help them undertake work-related activities.

Importantly, the general application of CCS and ACCS is that it can only be paid where services are open and providing care, with the exception of public holidays or when a period of local emergency has been declared. This means for the early childhood sector that CCS and ACCS cannot be applied to
