Post Office and Community - ConclusionsPost Office and Community - Conclusions

Over the past 70+ years of the Pitcairn Post Office has helped Pitcairn to:

•Fund its modernization / infrastructure •Market / publicize the island•Bind the diaspora to the home island•Facilitate a craft and food export business•Continue on-island family relationships•Bind the country to the British Crown and the UK / EC•Establish Pitcairn as a country (though not an independent country)

How can the Pitcairn Post Office help in the future:

•Continued funding source (although at a lower level)•Continued facilitator of exports (at lower level, unless...)•Market and serve tourism •Support sea-bed mining (on-island services to miners)
