7 Steps to Mastering the Pistol Squat
Start by making sure you can get into adeep squat, bringing your butt close to your heels while keeping a straight back.Work on that until you are ready to moveon to the next step.
Hold on to your ankles and roll your bodyup into a deep squat position. Work onthis progression until you feel comfortable enough to move on.
Lie down with your feet about hip-widthapart and bend your knees.
Roll your body up into a squat positionbut this time, keep one leg straight, andpop up very slightly with your bent leg.
Work on popping up a little higher eachtime you roll up, until you can pop upinto a standing position.
Next, youll go in the opposite direction:Stand up and squat back, keeping oneleg straight, and roll your body down to asupine position.
Work on this progression until you can squat down with control, andstand back up with control.
