Introduction
1 Introduction Pilot Pioneer is a leading indoor and outdoor multi-technology laptop-based diagnostic tool, for
radio network quality and services performance measurements. Based on the Windows operating
system, Pilot Pioneer is a user-friendly solution that can be used throughout network development
lifecycle, therefore allowing system vendors and network operators to benefit from their
investment.
New test terminals, including Huawei Mate7, HTC M8, and SAMSUNG S5 G9009W are
supported in this version. New analysis functions, including No Serving Cell Analysis, Pilot
Pollution Analysis, Cell Statistics and Analysis, and Neighbor Cell Analysis are added in this
version. In addition, the function of download data from Pilot Fleet Unify, VoLTE and MOS test
solutions are improved in this version.

New Features and Devices
2 New Features and Devices 2.1 Pilot Pollution Analysis Based on UE or Scanner test data, Pilot Pollution Analysis is used to analyze the signal strength of
serving and neighbor cells for 3/4G network technologies. The function analyzes strong cells or
servers that are serving within a given threshold defined by the user for the purpose of identifying
potential polluters. There are three statistics mode, including UE, Scanner, and UE+Scanner. The
statistics results can be displayed by table and map, and can be exported to Excel format. See the
figure below:
Figure 2.1 Pilot Pollution Analysis
2.2 Cell Statistics and Analysis Based on test data files and site files, Cell Statistics and Analysis is used to perform parameter,
KPI, and event statistics, as well as analysis for the serving cells. 2/3/4 G network technologies are
supported. See the figure below:

2.3 Cell Coverage Analysis Based on UE or Scanner test data, Cell Coverage Analysis is used to analyze the signal strength of
serving and neighbor cells. The cell coverage is verify through the statistics and analysis of KPIs
such as BSIC, PN, PSC, CPI, and PCI. There are three statistics mode, including Parameter, TopN,
and Serving Neighbor, which can be combined with Filter and Bin functions. The statistics results
can be displayed by table and map, and can be exported to *.txt or *.csv format. See the figure

New Features and Devices
2.4 Improved MOS Test Function 1. The MOS 4.0 64-bit operating driver is upgraded, and therefore supporting MOS test with 64
bit operating system .
2. Pilot Pioneer version 9.5 supports bidirectional and unidirectional replay of single or multiple
reference files.
3. During MOS test configuration, users may select Unidirection or Bidirection under Play
Mode to replay the reference file in the unidirectional or bidirectional mode. In addition,
users may select Multiple Reference Files for MOS test, which will be replayed based on
the order of the files. The Multiple Reference Files function is supported by MOS Box 3.0
and MOS Box 4.0.

4. Control reference file play (including pause and start) manually.
During MOS test, users may manually start or pause reference file play and pause or start
MOS score at the same time.

2.5 Neighbor Cell Management on the Map
Window Users may manage neighbor cells for LTE network technology in the Map window. Users may
check, add, delete, or export neighbor cell relationship, and export neighbor cell modification
records. See the figure below:

In the Map window, the icon previously used for site/cell settings is now designed for neighbor
cell management (shown in the red circle), and a new icon is created for site/cell settings (shown
in the green circle).
