REPRESENTATION

To me it was important that the images (especially on the front cover) looked fun and that there was implication that she happy either though hand gestations, facial expressions for example; smiling and body language. On one of my images the my model is implying the genre on music though her hands and in another image she has her hand over her ears which denotes sound. In a couple of images I have the model positioned sideward although still looking directly at the camera ‘direct gaze’ which is what the majority of magazine covers tend to use as it makes audiences feel as though they are being looked and aimed at. I have decided to use a hat as an indication of singing and dancing as well as her being a fashion icon.

POSESTYLE, HAIR & MAKE UP

CAMERA SHOT AND POSITIONING For the main image of my front cover I wanted it to be a medium/close-up image of a female who is looking directly towards the camera. In some of the shots like the side shot I have used a low angle shot to make Amy look more powerful and dominating to contrast with her innocents presented through facial expressions, which will interest audiences as this makes them what to finds out more about this singer.

I have used a bowler hat as a prop in half on my images what I may included on the front cover of my magazine. The model has two different outfits (both black) one is more smart; a floral black crop top with hair half up and half down, and one is more casual with vintage oversized coat. Both are model and fashionable which may be something that the audiences find eye-catching as in my questionnaire I found out that a lot of people that are into music also have a interest in fashion. The female model is wearing minimum makeup as I wanted to represent her as an arcitype as supposed to stereotypically. Her hair is mainly down and curly/wavy implying her femininity.

In the front cover image I need to represent Amy as a pop singer who can dance as well as sing. I have done this by positioning her as though she is dancing with her hands above her head and her holding a hat. The hat being a symbol of both fashion, music and dance. She is people represented positively as I fell like it is important for a pop magazine to convey happiness as supposed to a rock/indie magazine where people are being represented (through image0 in a negative light.

POSSIBLE IMAGES FOR CONTENTS PAGE

Page 5: Photo-Shoot Photos + Analysis

REPRESENTATION

Especially on my contents page I wanted to insert a variety of different image e.g., setting, people etc. so I will be inserting images which have been taken by myself from the past as well as the variety of photos I have taken for my photo-shoot. The images that I did take during my photo-shoot for the contents page where mostly of two or more people, this will help make my contents page look more busy and I have done this so that the articles can easily relate to the images on my contents page where I will be linking them with page numbers. The article on my contents page will be of things such as gigs and festivals as well as fan fiction and information on opinion leaders, so the images on my contents page will represent this.

POSESTYLE, HAIR & MAKE UP

CAMERA SHOT AND POSITIONING A lot of these shots are medium close ups but some are extremely wide shot like the festival image, some are long shots like the images of the ‘fans’ and I have also taken a birds eye view image of two people playing the drums when rehearsing. I have also taken some low angle shots and some high angle shot what I may use also for the contents page for variety.

Image on my contents page will be of both males and females aged between 16-26 and from all different backgrounds but are all into pop music. As this page includes variety of people they all have their own styles when it comes to hair and make up. This benefits my magazine as it will appeal to certain people of similar taste therefore widen my target audience.

Being represented as fun, happy, out going and sociable is want I wanted to convey though the images in my contents page.

POSSIBLE IMAGES FOR MY DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD

Page 7: Photo-Shoot Photos + Analysis

REPRESENTATION

On my double page spread I will be using a image which will spread across over the two pages so for my images on this page I needed the model to be positioned slightly more to one side so that on the opposite side I am able to insert some text. I have taken images of Amy on the side as I thought that might be a nice possible idea for my image on my DPS. I have also taken some images of her looking slightly more serious looking directly at the camera and with her looking happier and holding the hat again which will link in nicely to the image of her on my front cover.

POSESTYLE, HAIR & MAKE UP

CAMERA SHOT AND POSITIONING I wanted a medium close up for the main image on my contents page positioned more to either the right or left hand side. All though I might design after feedback that a side view image looks better across the one page.

Her hair make up and clothes on half of the images are very feminine to aspire female audiences as well as attract male audiences. On the other images that I had taken of her wearing a different outfit she is dressed slightly more casual and looks more serious and mysterious which makes audiences what to find out much more about the type of character she is although I had Amy wearing the colour black in both outfits as it is a very popular and well liked colour by my target audience.

Again I needed to represent Amy positively though smiling facial expressions as supposed to a blank face which is what a lot of music magazines tend to do.
