File size is determined by the number of pixels in the image. Resolution is measured by the number of pixels in an inch or ppi.

Making sure your photo fits..

On the web images will display at either 72 or 96 ppi which is standard for monitors. Therefore the dimensions on screen are greatly impacted Not by resolution but by how many pixels make up the image.

Sizing Images in Photoshop

• How many pixels make up the image when you start.

• Crop first, it decreases file size without reducing quality.

• Layers will increase file size without changing dimensions.

• Sometimes Resampling is good and sometimes it is not.

• How modifying Image size affects the size and quality.

• Keep your web page dimensions in mind when sizing.
