Abstrak

Kajian ini adalah untuk mengkaji perhubungan di antara fakta-fakta persekitaran dengan permasalahan sekolah. Fokus utamakajian adalah tertumpu kepada tiga angkubah bebas dengansalahlaku ponteng sekolah di kalangan pelajar-pelajar sekolahmenengah. Tiga angkubah bebas itu ialah terdiri dari faktorkeluarga, faktor sekolah dan faktor rakan sebaya. Kajian kuantitifini juga meninjau sejauhmanakah faktor-faktor tersebutmempengaruhi di antara satu sama lain ? Menentukan faktormanakah yang paling dominan di dalam permasalahan tersebut ?.

Responden utama kajian ini ialah 400 orang pelajar tingkatanempat yang biasa ponteng sekotah daripada dua puluh buahsekolah menengah di kawasan bandar Alor Setar, Kedah DarulAman. Mereka dipilih secara rawak dan menjawab soal-selidikuntuk dijadikan sebagai sumber data utama dalam kajian ini.Temubual dijalankan bersama Pengetua-pengetua, Guru-Guru,Wakil PIBG serta Ketua Pegawai Polis Daerah Kota Setar,sebagai responden sekunder untuk memperjelaskan lagi dengantepat isu-isu di dalam kajian tersebut. Data yang terkumpuldianalisiskan dengan berbantukan komputer melalui programSPSS 7.5 for Windows untuk mencari nilai statistik yang sepadandengan hipotesis kajian ini.

Keputusan kajian menunjukkan ada perhubungan yangsignifikan secara korelasi di antara faktor-faktor persekitarantersebut dengan masalah ponteng sekolah. Faktor keluarga ialahfaktor yang paling dominan di dalam permasalahan salahlakuponteng sekolah di dalam kajian ini.

Abstract

This research studies the relationship between theenvironmental factors and problems in schools, The researchfocuses mainly on three independent variables and truancyamong the secondary students. These three variables are family,school and peer group. Correspondingly, this quantitativeresearch examines the depth in which these factors affect oneanother and also to determine which is the most dominant amongthe three ?

The main respondents are four hundred form four studentsfrom twenty secondary schools in Alor Setar, Kedah DarulAman. These students, who are prone to truancy in theirrespective schools, were randomly selected to answer thequestionnaires. Their responses are used as the main source ofinformation in this research. Interviews were conducted withschools principals, teachers, representatives of PIBG and theDistrict Police Chief of Kota Setar as secondary respondents inthis research and their responses will help to address the issues inthis research precisely. All data from the main respondents willbe collected and analyzed using computer-aided program SPSS-7.5 for Windows. Discreetly, this helps to find the statisticalvalues to consolidate the discoveries and hypothesis of thisresearch.

The discoveries in this research show that correlatively there isa significant relationship between the environmental factors andtruancy. The family factor is the most dominant factorcontributing to truancy.
