Cleanliness Drive by DLW Civil Defence Under the “National Cleanliness Drive” members of Diesel Locomotive Works Civil Defence organisation launched a cleanliness drive at Surya Sarovar on 24 th May. On this occasion, Shri Panna Lal, Controller/Civil Defence & Dy. Chief Engineer, Shri B.L.Nag, Dy. Controller & Dy. Chief Project Manager/Vehicle, Shri Anupam Choudhary, Dy. Chief Mechanical Engineer/Tooling as well as Shri A.B. Mishra, Civil Defence Inspector along with the Civil Defence members made “Shramdan” in cleaning around the Surya Sarovar pond. Earlier, reiterating their commitment towards of Clean India Mission, all the members of Civil Defence took oath to make all success the Mission. On this occasion, members of various organisations, local denizens and students also contributed in this selfless affair of Civil Defence team.

  • Anti Terrorism Day at DLW

    Anti Terrorism Day was observed at Diesel Locomotive Works on 21st May. Shri Ashok

    Kumar Harit, General Manager administered the anti terrorism pledge to the HODs, officers and

    employees to fight against terrorism and other destructive activities.

  • Disaster Management Training Camp organised at DLW

    Under the joint auspicious of DLW Civil Defence, St. Johns Ambulance Brigade and National

    Disaster Management Team of Shri Satya Sai Seva Organisation organised a two day Disaster

    Management Training Camp on 09th and 10th May at Civil

    Defence Training Centre.

    The Camp started with the lighting of lamp by chief guest

    Dr. Sankar Singh, Addl. Chief Medical Superintendent &

    Divisional Commander/Medical, SJAB accompanied by

    Col. Yogendra Singh, Shri Amit Dubey and Shri Sai

    Kishor Shukla, members of National Disaster Management Team of Shri Satya Sai Seva

    Organisation.

    During the two day programme, in first sesion Col. Yogendra Singh, Shri Amit Dubey and

    Dr. Y.S.Negi the members of the disaster management team of Shri Satya Sai Seva Organisation

    threw light on the necessity of disaster management and science of natural calamity through

    presentations. They imparted practical training of rescue

    from cyclone, earthquake, flood, land sliding and tsunami

    to the members of SJAB and Civil Defence. They also

    apprised about the preventive measures to be taken to

    save the lives and the properties from the natural disaster.

    In the second session, Tushar Joshi, Sameer Nab, Rahul

    Upadhyay and Rajnish Srivastava of Shri Satya Sai Seva

    Organisation demonstrated the method to cross

    inflammable channel with the wet gunny packs and towels.

    The members of SJAB and Civil Defence were also apprised about the preparation of effective team

    planning, emergency methods and techniques of rescue operation etc.

    On this occasion, Dr. Madhulika Singh, Sr.DMO & Divisional Commander/Medical, Shri

    P.N.Dwivedi, Sr.AFA and Shri P.N.Singh, SSA/A Divisional

    Commanders/SJAB as well as other office bearers and

    members of SJAB and Civil Defence along with the

    members of Shri Satya Sai Seva Organisation were present

    in a large number. Shri Sai Kishor Shukla, District

    President, Shri Satya Sai Seva Organisation, Varanasi

    welcomed the guests as well as the members of Civil

    Defence and SJAB and at the end of the camp he also

    proposed vote of thanks. The whole programme was conducted by Shri Amit Dubey, Member of

    National Disaster Management Team of Shri Satya Sai Seva Organisation.

  • Annual Function of Chetna

    Chetna, a school for handicapped children run by DLW Womens Welfare Organisation

    celebrated its annual function Muskan on 29th April at DLW Officers Club with the presentation

    of brief colourful cultural programme by schools children. Blessing the children on this occasion,

    chief guest Shri Ashok Kumar Harit, General Manager said Chetna is indulging in making the

    handicapped children self-dependent by educating and

    imparting them vocational training. He further added that

    by getting such training the handicapped children can

    easily join the main stream of the society. Shri Harit said

    that these children need not only sympathy, but also

    love, affection and positive support from parents and

    society. Congratulating the DLW Womens Welfare

    Organisation, Shri Harit said that certainly the

    organisation is doing commendable work to make such extraordinary children self reliant and

    independent.

    Earlier, a colourful cultural programme was also

    presented by the children including chanting of Songs,

    Poem recital, Puppet Dance, Group Dance, Fancy Dress

    etc., which were highly appreciated by the viewers with

    the thumping noise. Shri Harit and Smt. Sumitra Harit,

    Chairperson, DLW Womens Welfare Organisation gave

    away prizes to the students and honoured the teachers

    for rendering their excellent service to the humanity. Shri

    & Smt. Harit also distributed the dividend among the children, earned from the selling of hand

    made things made by them. In this function, Shri Harit also declared the reward of ` 25000/- for

    Chetna. On this occasion, Chief Mechanical Engineer Shri Ashok Kumar Singh and FA&CAO Shri

    Hradai Narain also expressed his views and lauded the efforts of Chetna for making disabled

    children self-sufficient.

    Earlier, welcoming the guests Smt. Shashi Narain, Treasurer, DLW Womens Welfare

    Organisation highlighted the background and activities of school and also conducted the

    programme. On this occasion Smt. Anuradha Singh, Vice Chairperson, Smt. Minakshi Asthana and

    Smt. Sangeeta Sagar, Secy. as well as other office bearers, members of DLW Womens Welfare

    Organisation along with Chief Electrical Engineer Shri Yogesh Asthana, CME/M Shri P.Ananth,

    CMM/Loco Shri N.P.Sinha, CE Shri R.B.Yadav, CPM/Mod. Shri S.K.Sagar, CMO Dr.S.S.Negi, other

    officers, teachers, guardians and children were present in a large number.

    During the function, Smt. Rakhi, Principal presented the annual report of Chetna School and

    Smt. Krishna Dubey compared the cultural programme and at the end Smt. Usha, Instructor,

    Chetna proposed the Vote of thanks.

  • Meeting of Nagar Rajbhasha Karyanvayan Samiti

    Nagar Rajbhasha Karyanvayan Samiti (NRKS) held its meeting on 28th April at Hall of Fame.

    It was presided over by Shri Ashok Kumar Harit, General Manager & President, Nagar Rajbhasha

    Karyanvayan Samiti, Varanasi. Heads/representative of

    various central govt. departments and autonomous

    organisations attended this meeting. On this occasion

    expressing his happiness over the maximum use of Hindi

    Shri Harit appealed all the representatives of NRKS member

    offices to get registered themselves online on Ministry of

    Home Affairs/OL web portal. Shri Harit also advised the

    members of NRKS to contact their nearby offices and

    encourage them to join Samiti.

    On this occasion, Shri Harit honoured the Office of

    the Divisional Railway Manager, North Eastern

    Railway, Diesel Locomotive Works, Central Water

    Commission/Madhya Ganga Mandal, Banaras Hindu

    University, Textile Testing Laboratory, Certification

    Center/Central Silk Board, Office of the Field

    Publicity Office, Central Ground Water Board, Central

    University of Tibetan Studies, Audit Office/DLW, All

    India Radio, Life Insurance Corporation of India, Food Corporation of India, Export

    Credit Guarantee Corporation of India Ltd. and Airports Authority of India for their

    commendable work in promoting Rajbhasha Hindi by presenting them shield and certificate.

    Earlier, Shri Hradai Narain, Mukhya Rajbhasha Adhikari welcomed the representatives of

    member offices and threw lights upon the activities of NRKS and DLW. On this occasion,

    ADRM/NER Shri Santosh Shukla, Representative of Hindi Council Shri J.N.Roy as well as other

    heads/representative of various central govt. departments and autonomous organizations

    expressed his views and put valuable suggestions for the promotion Rajbhasha. The programme

    concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Sanjay Kumar Singh, Varistha Rajbhasha

    Adhikari and Member Secy./NRKS.

  • Launching of Online Vendor Registration System at DLW

    In an effort to create transparency in dealing with the vendors and improve procedural

    efficiency in processing of their applications, Diesel Locomotive Works has launched a web-based

    portal for vendors on its official website www.dlw.indianrailways.gov.in. This online vendor

    registration system was launched by General Manager Shri Ashok Kumar Harit by pressing the

    button on 30th April at Conference Hall. This portal has many enabling features including facility for

    the vendors to register their application online. It

    provides them with login authority which can be used

    by the vendors to access DLWs vendor portal for any

    information related to the status of processing of their

    application. Each activity related with the processing of

    vendor application (including scrutiny of documents,

    physical verification of manufacturing infrastructure

    etc.) is tied to a specific timeline and the system

    automatically generates alerts as and when these

    defined timelines are violated at any stage. The system automatically ensures monitoring of

    process time and the slacks are eliminated. With this system, the vendor application processing

    time is likely to come down drastically (form around 240 days to 60 days). On this occasion, GM

    Shri Harit announced a cash award of ` 10000/- for the team, involved in making this web portal.

    The advantages of web based portal are summarized as under :-

    Facility to vendors for online submission of Vendor Application form

    System generated acknowledgement to vendor and alerts to DLW officials at every stage

    Paperless transaction

    Smart tracking of document / timeline monitoring of complete process / status of applica-

    tion visible to vendor

    The module implemented for online vendor application is a scaleable module and can be

    interfaced with other lateral modules in future. In this connection, it is to inform that DLW is in the

    process of developing web based modules for updateion of DLW vendor directory, monitoring of

    progress made by the vendor against developmental purchase orders and system for monitoring

    prototype inspections also and these modules, as and when developed, will be interfaced with this

    portal.

    On this occasion, Dy. Chief Design Engineer/Vehicle Shri S.K.Singh put detailed information

  • Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar Jayanti Celebration

    124th Ambedkar Jayanti Celebration was organised on 15th April at Diesel Locomotive Works

    Technical Training Centre Auditorium. Paying rich tribute to Dr. Ambedkar chief guest Shri Yogesh

    Asthana, Chief Electrical Engineer said that Dr. Ambedkar will always be remembered for their

    determination and willpower. He not only worked for

    the welfare of the people of down trodden society, but

    for the equality of all the communities and religions.

    He also worked for the empowerment of women and

    welfare of labourers also.

    On this occasion, FA&CAO Shri Hradai Narain,

    CPO Shri Arjun Tabiyar, Staff Council Member Shri

    Narendra Mishra and office bearers of SC/ST/OBC unions S/Shri Ram Asre Yadav, Sardar Singh

    and other speakers also paid rich tributes to Baba

    Saheb and focussed upon his personality and works.

    Earlier, lighting the lamp chief guest Shri

    Asthana, CPO Shri Tabiyar, FA&CAO Shri Hradai Narain,

    CMO Dr. S.S.Negi and other speakers garlanded the

    picture of Baba Saheb. On this occasion officers, staff

    council members, staff, office bearers of SC/ST/OBC

    Associations were present in a large number. At the end

    of the programme Shri Pravin Kumar, Dy.CPO proposed the vote of thanks and Shri Mahesh

    Thakur, Chief Welfare Inspector conducted the whole programme.

  • Continuing Medical Education at DLW

    Under the joint auspicious of Diesel Locomotive Works Central Hospital and Varanasi

    Physiotherapists Association 2nd Continuing Medical Education (CME) for Physiotherapists of Indian

    Railways was organized on 10th and 11th April at Technical

    Training Centre Auditorium. The programme was inaugurated

    by chief guest Shri Ashok Kumar Harit, General Manager by

    lighting the lamp. On this occasion, addressing the delegates

    Shri Harit said that this CME will provide a platform to the

    physiotherapists to share the latest technologies and

    methods. Addressing on the occasion the guest of honour Dr.

    Somai Prasad, Chief Medical Director, Gorakpur expressed happiness over the organising of CME.

    On this occasion, expressing their views, guest speakers Dr. Rajeev Agrawal, AIIMS, New

    Delhi, Dr. A.G.K.Sinha, Punjabi University, Patiala, Dr. Ramjeet, PGI, Lucknow, Dr. O.P.Singh,

    BHU, Varanasi threw light on latest and modern medical facilities available for the treatments

    Parkinsons disease and sports related injuries etc.

    Welcoming the guests and delegates, Dr. S.S.Negi,

    Chief Medical Officer, DLW & Organising Chairman of the CME

    underlined the role of Physiotherapists in Indian Railways. Dr.

    B.Pradhan, Secy. of the institute presented the annual report.

    Dr. M.Venkatgiri, Southern Railway, Chennai and Shri

    S.K.Mandal, AIIMS, New Delhi conducted the whole

    programme efficiently, while Shri R.K.Sinha, Physiotherapist,

    DLW proposed the vote of thanks.

    On 11th April, under the chair of Dr. S.S.Negi, Chief Medical Officer, DLW the session was

    closed with the lectures on prosthetic implants, physiotherapy management and its modern

    therapy etc.

  • Railway Week Award Distribution Ceremony at DLW

    60th Railway Week Award Distribution Ceremony was organised on 10th April at DLW

    Auditorium (Cinema Hall). On this occasion Shri Ashok Kumar Harit, General Manager gave away

    awards to 78 meritorious officers, supervisors and employees for their commendable performances

    in their respective fields during the year 2014-15. Shri Harit

    also gave away group awards and running trophies to 08

    sections/workshops of Stores and Mechanical Departments.

    In which the Best House Keeping award went to Truck

    Machine Shop, besides Best Safety Performance award to

    Loco Frame Shop, Best Performance award to Engine

    Erection Shop and Best Service Shop to Central Transport

    Shop of Mechanical Department. While in Stores

    Department, UP-5 bagged the Best Purchases Section award, followed by Second Best Purchases

    Section award to UP-2, as well as in Depot, Ward No.- G-54 and Ward No.- TOT-45 secured the

    first and second Best Ward awards respectively.

    Felicitating the employees, supervisors and officers, who won the awards for their

    achievements in various spheres Shri Harit said that DLW manufactured 266 locomotives in the

    financial year 2014-15 and also set a record of manufacturing 31 locomotives in the month of

    March, which is highest ever production in any month.

    Highlighting the achievements of DLW in marketing field, Shri Harit said that in the financial

    year 2014-15, DLW has received the supply order of 24

    locomotives from Non Railway Customers, in which 16

    locomotives has been supplied to them. Besides, the

    negotiation for export of 18 locomotives to Myanmar and 09

    locomotives including 30 nos. Engine Power Packs to

    Mozambique, is in final stage. On this occasion, Shri Harit

    congratulated the DLW employees for receiving the

    prestigious Railmantri Rajbhasha Running Shield from

    Ministry of Railways for their outstanding contribution in the progress of Hindi.

    Earlier, welcoming the guests, Chief Public Relations Officer Shri Manish Kumar Gupta,

    focused upon the background history of Indian Railways and said that Indian Railways had started

    its spectacular journey on 16th April, 1853 from Mumbai to Thane covering a distance of 34

    kilometers. To commemorate that glorious moment, Railway Week Celebration is celebrated in

    Indian Railways every year from 10th to 16th April. Today Indian Railways has completed 162 years

    of that historical journey and it is still continued without any pause.

    Earlier, the function started with the lighting of lamp by Shri Harit, GM, Shri A.K.Singh,

    CME, Shri Yogesh Asthana, CEE, Shri A.K.Goel, COS and Shri Hradai Narain, FA&CAO jointly. On

  • this occasion, a colourful cultural programme of Rajasthani Folk Music and Kalbelia Dance was also

    presented by the artists of Rajasthan, Under the banner of SPIC MACAY. The programme was

    highly appreciated by the viewers. Important among those who were present on this occasion were

    Shri A.K.Goel, COS, Shri Hradai Narain, FA&CAO and other HODs, Smt. Sumitra Harit, Chairperson

    and members of DLW Women's Welfare Organisation, officers, staff council members as well as

    employees, their family members and friends were also presented in a large number. The

    programme concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Shri Pradeep Mishra, PRO, while Shri

    Amlesh Srivastava and Smt. Sravani Ghosh conducted the whole programme efficiently.

  • Shri A.K. Mital, Chairman, Railway Board held a review meeting of Diesel Locomotive

    Works, Northern Railway and North Eastern Railway

    on 28th March at Hall of Fame. On this occasion Shri

    Mital reviewed the progress of ongoing projects and

    developmental works running at Northern Railway,

    North Eastern Railway and DLW.

    In this meeting, Shri Ashok Kumar Harit,

    General Manager, DLW and Shri Ravish Kumar, Dy.

    CME/Planning apprised them about the production

    and other activities as well as progress of ongoing expansion project through presentation. He also

    informed them about the progress of indigenization of locomotives, safety, training, environmental

    protection, water harvesting and solar energy related works being done at DLW. Shri Mital also

    discussed various technical issues with S/Shri Yogesh Asthana, CEE, A.K.Goel, COS, K.B.Sahay,

    CME/P, P.Ananth, CME/M, A.K.Singh, CDE, Hradai Narain, FA&CAO and other HODs.

    It is mentionable here that under the Make in India campaign at Varanasi, Honble Prime

    Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the indigenization of loco equipments and Expansion

    Project of Diesel Locomotive Works on 25th December, 2014.

    In this review meeting, Shri A.K.Puthia,

    General Manager, Northern Railway, Shri A.K.Lahoti,

    DRM/Lucknow, Shri Rajiv Misra, General Manager,

    North Eastern Railway and Shri S.K.Kashyap,

    DRM/Varanasi also put up their presentations in

    regard to their railways and about the progress of

    doubling and electrification work of railway lines,

    passenger amenities, security & safety, remodeling

    of yards and cleanliness work at railway stations.

    Honble Chairman Shri Mital expressed satisfaction over the progress of ongoing projects

    and works running at DLW. He instructed the railway officers to bring austerity in use of resources,

    early completion of ongoing projects and increasing the production and income of railways, to

    make operative the idle locomotives by arranging required spares, installation of more escalators

    at Varanasi Cantt station and use of solar energy. Earlier, Shri A.K.Sharma, Chief Quality

    Assurance Manager, DLW welcomed Shri Mital and railway officers as well as conducted the whole

    programme.

    Chairman Railway Board held a review meeting at DLW

  • Thereafter, Shri Mital met Shri Amar Singh, Joint Secy., Staff Council & members as well as

    the representatives of other employees associations and received memorandum from them on

    various issues related to grievances and demands of employees

    Inter Departmental Sports Competitions

    Under the auspices of Diesel Locomotive Works Sports Association, Inter Departmental

    Sports Competitions of Golf, Basketball, Volleyball, Chess, Athletics, Cricket, Badminton and

    Football were organised during January to March months. Deferent Departments of DLW

    participated in these sports competitions. These competitions concluded on 25th March at Stadium

    with the distribution of prizes to the winner/runner teams as well as individual performers by chief

    guest Shri Ashok Kumar Harit, General Manager. In

    these competitions Rest Department was declared

    overall champion, receiving maximum points.

    Earlier, welcoming the guests Shri

    A.K.Sharma, Chief Quality Assurance Manager &

    Honorary Secy., DLW Sports Association threw light

    on the competitions. On this occasion S/Shri Hradai

    Narain, FA&CAO, R.B.Yadav, CE, N.P.Sinha,

    CMM/Loco, P.Ananth, CME/M, Dr. S.S.Negi, CMO, N.S.Pangtey, FA&CAO/TOT, Padmshri Md. Sahid,

    Sr. Sports Officer as well as other officers, Staff Council members, office bearers of DLWSA and

    viewers were present in a large number. Shri Amlesh Srivastava conducted the whole programme

    efficiently.

  • DLW Bagged Railway Minister Rajbhasha Running Shield

    Diesel Locomotive Works bagged Railway Minister Rajbhasha Shield for showing excellent

    and maximum work in Rajbhasha. Shri A.K.Mital, CRB gave away this shield to Shri Hradai Narain,

    Mukhya Rajbhasha Adhikari on 23rd March in Prize Distribution Ceremony held at Railway Board. It

    is a matter of great pride that the first time DLW

    has received this shield.

    On his return to Varanasi, Shri Hradai

    Narain, Mukhya Rajbhasha Adhikari handed over

    the shield to Shri Ashok Kumar Harit, General

    Manager in the presence of Shri A.K.Goel,

    Controller of Stores as well as other officers.

    Expressing happiness over the receiving of this

    highest honour by DLW, Shri Ashok Kumar Harit, General Manager congratulated the officers and

    employees and called upon them to do more work in Rajbhasha.

    All India Railway Best Welder Competition

    Under the auspicious of Diesel Locomotive Works Indian Railway Welding Research

    Institute, an All India Railway Best Welder Competition was organised at Technical Training Centre

    from 17th to 24th March. At the end of the competition,

    Shri Ashok Kumar Singh, Chief Mechanical Engineer gave

    away awards to the winner in a simple ceremony held at

    Technical Training Centre on 24th March.

    In this competition, Shri H.Sampat of Integral

    Coach Factory got the first place, while, Shri Parikshit

    Kumar of Rail

    Coach Factory and Shri Rajeev Nayan of DLW got

    second and third places respectively. Whereas, Shri

    Dharmendra, Shri Balwant Singh Porle and Shri Rajeev

    Nayan got first three places in a DLW level competition.

    Earlier, welcoming the guests and participants,

    Shri Vivek Acharya, Principal, Technical Training Centre

    threw light on the background and aim of competition.

    On this occasion, special guest Shri A.K.Sharma, Chief Quality Assurance Manager as well

    as DLWs & other Railways officers and employees were present in a large number Shri Pavan

    programme and vote of thanks was proposed by Shri Ravi Kumar, Chief Workshop Instructor.

    Painting Exhibition

    Under the joint auspices of Diesel Locomotive Works

    Sansthan and Sanskar Bharti, DLW unit, an exhibition of

    paintings made by students of different schools of Varanasi

    was organised from 13th to 15th March at Surya Sarovar.

    Shri Ashok Kumar Harit, General Manager was the chief

    guest, who inaugurated the exhibition by cutting the ribbon

    as well as lighting of lamp.

    On this occasion, Smt. Sangeeta Sagar, Secy., Smt.

    Chitra Pangtey, Treasurer along with members of DLW

    Womens Welfare Organisation, as well as Shri Manish

    Kumar Gupta, DGM and Shri Anil Kumar Gupta, Dy.CMgM,

    other officers, office bearers, students and viewers were

    present in a large number.

    The exhibition wound up with the prize distribution to the students by General Manager Shri

    Harit on 15th March. As many as 2500 paintings were exhibited in this Painting Exhibition.

  • Inauguration of Expansion Project of DLW by Honble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi

    Shri Narendra Modi, Honble Prime Minister of India inaugurated the Expansion Project of

    Diesel Locomotive Works by unveiling the plaque and pushing the remote control button in a

    function organised at DLW stadium on 25th December,

    2014. In order to increase the production capacity of HHP

    locomotives with greater indigenization of sub-assemblies,

    Expansion Project is being undertaken at DLW. Rail Vikas

    Nigam Limited, a Mini Ratna Public Sector Undertaking

    under Ministry of Railways, has been entrusted with the

    task to execute the project on turnkey basis. A composite

    contract for part I of the project has been awarded at a

    total cost of Rs 213 crores with target date for its completion as 31 March 2017.

    On this occasion Honble Prime Minister also flagged-off the flower bedecked Dual Cab, 4500

    HP, new type of Passenger Diesel Locomotive WDP4D, decorated in resplendent colour scheme.

    Before flagging-off the Locomotive, Honble Prime Minister

    inspected the driver cab along with Honble Minister for

    Railways Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, Chairman,

    Railway Board Shri Arunendra Kumar, General Manager,

    DLW Shri Rajiv Vishnoi and other principal officers.

    Expressing his happiness on launching the

    Expansion Project of DLW, Honble Prime Minister said that

    I have been associated with Railways since my childhood. I always see Railways as my own family.

    He further added that the Railways are the backbone of the development of Country, Railways

    development is the development of Country. He also informed about the establishment of four

    Railway Universities to develop the Railways and

    increase the employment. Besides he also focussed upon

    the works done in Railways to develop the skill of the

    workers. On this occasion emphasising upon the Make

    in India campaign, he said there are vast feasibilities of

    development in the country but for this the country, will

    have to be self-reliant in the field of Technology. Lauding

    the manufacture of special type 4500 HP WDP4D

    passenger locomotive and its indigenisation upto 96 percent by DLW, he hoped that it will go upto

    100 percent.

    Welcoming the Honble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in the function, Honble Minister

    for Railways Shri Suresh Prabhaker Prabhu expressed commitment for the development of the

    Railways and said that huge amount of investment is needed for the development of Railways. At

  • the end of the function Shri Arunendra Kumar, Chairman, Railway Board proposed the vote of

    thanks. Shri Amlesh Srivastav conducted the programme.

    Honble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modis stay at DLW

    Honble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi visited Varanasi on 07th & 08th November, 2014.

    On his two day visit he stayed at Diesel Locomotive Works, Officers Guest House. On his arrival at

    Officers Guest House, Shri Rajiv Vishnoi, General

    Manager, DLW along with Shri Manish Gupta, Dy.GM &

    CPRO welcomed him by presenting bouquet. During his

    visit, all the arrangements were made to his stay

    comfortable at Officers Guest House. During the stay,

    Shri Pradeep Malhotra, Ex. DLW employee and care

    taker of Guest House attended Honble PM Shri Modi all

    the time devotedly. At Officers Guest House, Honble

    PM Shri Modi putting the remark on visitor book

    expressed his emotions regarding Railways. He reminisces about his childhood and remarked that

    the stay in DLW brought back memories of his childhood, when he had been closely associated

    with trains and railway stations. The Prime Minister described how he recalled the passengers and

    railway carriages, and how this was such an emotional experience for him.

    The Prime Minister thanked the hard-working (karmyogi) people at DLW and said he would now

    keep visiting. Looking ahead, the Prime Minister said that the memories of childhood would lead to

    new resolve and new possibilities.

    May Mother Ganga's love and blessings keep our country, and our thoughts, clean, the Prime

    Minister said.

  • Special Cleanliness Drive on Gandhi Jayanti at DLW

    Under the Special Cleanliness Drive at Diesel Locomotive Works, all the officers,

    employees and their family members made Shramdan in the premises on 02nd October on Gandhi

    Jayanti.

    Leading the drive Chief Mechanical Engineer Shri Ashok Kumar Singh made Shramdan at

    Western Township-III, Jalali Patti along with the co-

    incharge of Cleanliness Drive of above area Shri

    P.Ananth, Chief Mechanical Engineer/Material, Shri

    Manish Kumar Gupta, Deputy General Manager and other

    officers and employees.

    For this drive, the DLW premises was divided into

    10 zones. Shri Yogesh Asthana, Chief Electrical Engineer, Shri Atul Mohan, Financial Advisor and

    Chief Accounts Officer, Shri Pradeep Kumar, Controller of Stores, Shri Arjun Tabiyar, Chief

    Personnel Offiecr, Shri A.K.Sharma, Chief Quality Assurance Manager, Shri Hardai Narain, Financial

    Advisor and Chief Accounts Officer/TOT, Shri K.B. Sahay,

    Chief Mechanical Engineer/Production, Shri S.K. Sager,

    Chief Project Manager/Modernisation, Shri R.K. Saxena,

    Scouts & Guides, Sportsmen and Students of DLW based schools also gave laudable contribution to

    make the drive a grand successes.

    Before starting the Cleanliness Drive, Shri Ashok

    Kumar Singh, Chief Mechanical Engineer administered

    the oath of awareness towards the cleanliness to the

    officers and employees. In the same manner all Heads of

    Departments also administered the oath to the

    employees to be aware of cleanliness in their respective

    areas. On this occasion, Shramdan was also made in

    RPF Barrack led by Shri Sunil K. Singh, Deputy Inspector General / RPF, Railway Board, New Delhi

    along with Shri S.C.Chaudhari, Sr. Security Commissioner.
