Dear Perspective Client,

After carefully reviewing the project you have requested, I am eager to provide my knowledge and creative ability to achieve the product you desire. Given my current knowledge in the field of graphic design, I believe I am an exceptional candidate for this assignment.

I currently attend Michigan State University and will graduate in May 2011, with a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art. Throughout my college career, I have dedicated myself to the graphic design field while immersing myself in constructive, field-related experiences. I was awarded a spot in the 2009–2010 and 2010–2011 MSU Undergraduate Art Exhibit, where I showcased part of my portfolio and gained knowledge about the graphic design field.

Additionally, I have participated in work outside my graphic design concentration to enrich my educational experience and broaden my cultural awareness. I have worked as a research assistant in the Plant Biology Laboratory of Michael Grillo since March 2010, I am a member of the MSU Undergraduate Research Advisory Board, and I am a Student Coordinator for the Ingham Regional Medical Center.

I have excellent written and verbal communication skills. I am detail-oriented, well organized, and work diligently in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments. I pride myself on my creative problem solving skills and my capacity for originality.

It would be a privilege if I could meet with you to further discuss the project you have listed. Attached, please find my resume. For more information, I invite you to visit my online portfolio at www.behance.net/emilykramer. I will follow up via e-mail within the week. I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

Emily Kramer

and the Beauty

Beast

Jeanne-Marie LePrince de Beaumont

Beauty and the Beast

Beauty and the Beast is a tale as old as time, chronicling the power of love between father and daughter, and Beauty and Beast. Belle selflessly sacrifices herself to save the life of her father and then ultimately the Beast’s. As the story evolves, readers will find themselves gradually rooting for the Beast as they become swept away with his endearing and honest portrayal. The surprisingly tender tale of Beauty and the Beast reminds us of love’s power and influence while teaching us to look beyond appearances. Readers of all ages will find this tale both entertaining and educational, discovering something new and different with each reading.

“A poetic tale that will continue to enchant readers for years to come.”

I designed a reinterpreted book cover for the children’s fairytale Beauty and the Beast. Referencing the tale’s original darker side, I emphasized the beast’s identity transformation while maintaining a darker color palette.
