Content Passion

This is a very hard question to answer for me as I love a little bit about almost all the topics that I teach. I love plant science because plants are so cool!! They do so many neat things that you can’t readily see in animals or other areas of agriculture and they are small enough to fit in my classroom! I love animal science because I can relate them to people or our dairy farm. I love leadership because I want students to become the best version of themselves. I love Ag Business because I want students to know what it’s like to handle money and be responsible for what they have and understand why the farm runs the way it does. I think the only part I don’t really like is Natural Resources and that would be because I don’t know as much about those as I do the other areas.

Within your subject matter, what are you passionate about teaching? In other words, of all the topics and standards you teach as part of your curriculum, which are the ones you most enjoy?

Professional Passion

I am passionate about educating people young and old about agriculture. It drives me nuts when I hear those stories about people who just don’t understand where their food and clothing comes from. I know that not everyone can run a farm anymore but there’s no reason that people should be ignorant about how they feed themselves everyday. We would be nothing without agriculture. I also believe that everyone needs to know that agriculture is not just farming/production agriculture. There is soo much more to agriculture that people don’t understand is part of agriculture.

Within your profession, but not specific to your subject matter, what are you passionate about? What is it about being an educator that drives you? What ignites a fire inside of you?

Personal Passion

I am passionate about running. I run to stay in shape, I run to de-stress, I run to compete with my inner shelf, and I run to become better than I was yesterday. I’m also passionate about gaining more knowledge. I am such a nerd, when I get really excited about learning new things, I want to run up and down the halls yelling and doing my “happy dance”. I also have my nose in a book all the time!I’m lastly passionate about my family. Spending time with my husband and my furry children makes my bad days just a little better at the end of the day.

Completely outside of your profession, what are you passionate about?
