ARTIST: Kurt Pfeiffer

MEET THE ARTIST:About the poster, Pfeiffer says, “When I think of summer, I think of watermelon AND the Park Ave Summer Art Fest!” Nothing is more refreshing than a cold slice of watermelon at a hot August picnic or gathering. Its juice, seeds and sweetness just naturally seems to bring cheer—a slice itself is shaped like a smile. Here, the bite taken out of it adds a second grin. The colors in the poster are bright and tropical, with the iciest blue reserved for this cool summer treat. And what better place to enjoy all the sights, sounds and tastes of summertime than the coolest neighborhood in Rochester—Park Avenue.

BIO:An accomplished artist and illustrator, Kurt Pfeiffer’s work has been exhibited in numerous

museums including the Everson Museum of Art, the Memorial Art Gallery, Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute, Rome Art and Community Center, Rochester Contemporary Art Center, the Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center, and solo and group exhibitions in New York and California. He is currently represented by the Nan Miller Gallery in Rochester. Pfeiffer attended Rochester Institute of Technology, spending his junior year abroad studying drawing, painting, and printmaking at the Ruskin School of Drawing in Oxford, England. He also attended the University of Southern California School of Cinema-Television. Currently the Associate Creative Director at Mirror Show Management in Webster, NY, Pfeiffer has over 30 years of experience in advertising working as an Art Director and Creative Supervisor at several advertising agencies, including Saatchi & Saatchi (Rumrill-Hoyt), Hutchins/Young & Rubicam, and Roberts Communications.
