“Teach me the way iLearn” Dear Parents/Guardians, Your child has been placed in an iPad class in 2017. This means you have signed them up to BYO their own iPad to and from school every day next year. Our goal is to take advantage of the iPad as a tool to help create engaged students who are responsible and safe digital citizens, to connect parents with classrooms and to support teaching and learning. In preparation for 2017 please see the checklist below. PARENT CHECKLIST Please ensure that you have put in place the correct settings, including Restrictions, as explained in the attached documents. iPads will be brought from day one, week one, in term one of 2017. Label the iPad – parents should clearly label the external cover of the iPad with the child’s name and class. Ensure the iPad is in a robust protective case. iPad Charging – iPads must be charged at home every night, as it is not possible to do this in the classroom when managing such large numbers of iPads. Make sure a plan for transporting and care of the iPad has been worked out with your child. Transporting the iPad- Parents are to talk to the children to ensure they understand the following rules about their iPads (these will also be explained and revised with students by their classroom teacher): i. The iPad must stay in the zipped school bag before and after school. The bag should either be placed on the ground with the child seated next to it or on the child’s back. Bags are not to be placed on the racks with iPads still inside. ii. The iPad should be taken out of the bag and taken inside when the students enter their classrooms from 8.15am. iii. The child is to put the iPad on their desk and must write his/her name on the iPad sign-in list (witnessed by the classroom teacher). iv. The child is then to go outside to put the school bag on the racks and wait quietly until the 8.25am bell goes to enter the classroom. v. At the end of the day, the school bags will be brought inside the classroom and iPads will be placed inside to be taken home in zipped bags.
