EJCHS Attendance Policy
• When a student acquires 8 or more unexcused absences in a semester, the student loses credit for the course--regardless of his/her course average.
• Make up time opportunities--Mon-Thurs after school
• Reasons that absences may be marked as excused: doctor appt, death in immediate family, court appointment, military appointment, religious holiday, inclement weather
EJCHS Attendance Policy
Excuse notes must be turned in within 3 days of the event to be considered.
Any combination of 5 tardies or early check-outs in a class equate to one absence for that class.

Advisement Process & Timeline
• December: Academic teachers made recommendations for 2018-2019
• January: Counselors visited classrooms to offer pre-advisement lessons
• January: Advisement materials loaded to school website (https://sites.jackson.k12.ga.us/ejchscounselors/)
• January 25: Parent Advisement Night• February: Students will register for classes in
computer labs at school• March: Personnel allocations & begin building master
schedule
Graduation Requirements
23 units in the following areas to graduate • 4 units of English• 4 units of Math• 4 units of Science• 3 units of Social Studies • ½ unit of Health• ½ unit of Fitness (or another PE)• 3 units of electives (Fine Arts, CTAE, Modern
Language)
Testing Requirements
• EOCs (formerly EOCTs): End of Course Tests, given in 8 content areas (20% of final grade)—Algebra I, Geometry, 9th Grade Literature, American Literature, Biology, Physical Science, US History, Economics
• Students must sit for the EOC in the identified courses, or they will be given an “Incomplete” in the course—regardless of their average
• Please do not schedule vacations prior to the end of school
Testing Dates for Spring 2018
• End of Pathway Assessments: April 23-27
• End of Grade Assessments: April 30-May 11
• AP Exams: May 7-18• EOCs: May 7-17• Final Exams: May 17-23• Last Day of School: May 23

HOPE Rigor Requirements
• 4 rigor classes required• For a complete list of courses offered at EJCHS,
please visit our website.• Only English, math, science, social studies, and
modern language classes count toward HOPE.• 4th science options count• Minimum of 3.0 core GPA requirement as
calculated by GSFC• Zell Miller: 3.7 core GPA; 1200 SAT; 26 ACT ( in a
single national test administration)
Which test do I take?• My plan is to attend a 4 year
college/university---SAT or ACT
