PALM SUNDAY

John 12:9-19: The next day, the news that Jesus was on the way to Jerusalem swept through the city. A large crowd of Passover visitors took palm branches and went down the road to meet him. They shouted, “Praise God! Blessings on the one who comes in the name of the LORD! Hail to the King of Israel!” Jesus found a young donkey and rode on it, fulfilling the prophecy that said: “Don’t be afraid, people of Jerusalem. Look, your King is coming, riding on a donkey’s colt.”

“we were all searching for a king to slay our foes and lift us high, you came a little baby thing, to make a woman cry” – George McDonald

From womb to tomb, from birth to death, he did not come to meet our expectations of what a King should be like – he came to meet our deepest need - our need for salvation.

He came to save us from ourselves.

Watch out for people who try to dazzle you with big words and intellectual double-talk. They want to drag you off into

endless arguments that never amount to anything. They spread their ideas through the empty traditions of human beings and

the empty superstitions of spirit beings. But that’s not the way of Christ. Everything of God gets expressed in him, so you can see and hear him clearly.

(Colossians 2:8-10 – The Message)
