About this Product

PageScope Data Administrator is an administration tool with which authen-tication data and addresses that are registered in the control panel of sup-ported devices (multifunctional OA equipment) can be edited and changed from other computers on the network.

After importing and editing authentication lists and address lists from devic-es, it can be used to then export these lists to devices.

PageScope Data Administrator can import address lists in XML, CSV, TAB, LDIF, Lotus Notes Structured Text, and other formats.

The LDAP protocol can be used to both search and browse destination data on directory servers such as Active Directory, and to import these addresses.

Below is a functional overview of the Administrator Tools.- Detecting supported models on the network.- Acquire and configure user / account track data of a device.- Bulk entry of user / account track data and destination data (abbreviated,

2 Software Installation

2.1 PageScope Data Administrator (Administrator Tools)Install and uninstall the PageScope Data Administrator (below: “Data Admin-istrator”) as follows:

Installation

1 Open the Data Administrator folder.

– Confirm the location to where you copied the Data Administrator.

2 Double click Setup.exe.

The installer starts.

3 Proceed with the install as indicated on the screen.

4 When the InstallShield Wizard Complete screen is displayed, click Finish.

Click Start, then Programs—KONICA MINOLTA—PageScope Data Administrator, and confirm that the Data Administrator icon is there.

Uninstallation

1 Click Start, then Settings—Control Panel, to open the Control Panel.

2 Double-click Add/Remove Programs.

3 In the Currently installed programs field, select PageScope Data Administrator, and click Change/Remove.

4 When the Confirm Uninstall screen is displayed, click OK. Uninstall commences.

5 When the Maintenance Complete screen is displayed, click Finish.

3.3.1 Network SettingsSpecifies the network range for searching devices at startup of Data Admin-istrator (max. 1000), and the default settings used to access addresses on the directory server (LDAP server) (max. 99).

Device Search Range Settings

1 From the Application menu, select Network setting, then Device search setting.

The Device search setting screen is displayed.

2 Specify the SNMP community name. (The default value is public)

3 Input the Start IP and End IP.

4 Click Add.

5 The search range is displayed in the Search range box.



6 Click OK to close the Device Search Configuration dialog.

LDAP Server Settings

1 From the Application menu, select Network setting, then LDAP con-figuration.

The LDAP Server List screen is displayed.


2 To register new details, click New.
– To change already registered details, click Edit.– To delete already registered details, click Delete.The LDAP server setting dialog is displayed.

3 After you have completed input or changes, click OK to close the LDAP server setting dialog.



The LDAP server setting dialog- Directory name

Input a name for the current details.- Server name

Input either the directory server IP address or its DNS server name.Input the DNS name when using SSL.

- Search RootInput the search base. (Up to 512 characters)(E.g.) ou=sales division, dc=ABCDEFG, dc=comConsult with the LDAP administrator about search bases to input.

- Port numberSpecify the port number to be used when accessing LDAP servers.

- SSLSelect when using SSL for LDAP communications.It is recommended that you use SSL for secure transmission. Not using SSL means that LDAP data will be transmitted over the network in unsafe ASCII format.

- Maximum number of hitsSpecify the maximum number of items to show when searching.

- TimeoutSpecify the transmission timeout for the LDAP server. (1-120 sec)

- Authentication type (Anonymous, Simple, NTLM)Select the BIND type for the LDAP server.Select NTLM when connecting to an Active Directory.

- Domain NameInput the domain name.Input Domain Name when connecting to an Active Directory.

- User NameThis field can be entered when authentication is not set to Anonymous.

- PasswordThis field can be entered when authentication is not set to Anonymous.

- Confirm PasswordRe-input password for confirmation.


3.3.2 Specifying Default Settings for Devices
Specifies units for paper sizes, etc., to be used by the Data Administrator. These units are unrelated to panel settings in the device.

Unit Settings

1 From the Application menu, select Application initial setting.

The Unit setting screen is displayed.

2 Specify the display units to be used with PageScope Data Administra-tor.

3 Click OK to close the Unit setting screen.



3.3.3 Automatic Protect SettingsConfigures the protect functions for Data Administrator startup and for when recovering from password protected status.

Application Protect Settings

1 From the Application menu, select Auto protect setting, and Start protection.

The Application protect settings screen is displayed.

2 After you have completed making changes, click OK to close the Ap-plication protect settings screen.

Specify the timeout from the last time the application is used until it is protected.

- PasswordInput the password.

- Confirm passwordRe-input password for confirmation

Canceling Protect Settings

1 From the Application menu, select Auto protect setting, and Release protection state.

The Release protection state screen is displayed.


2 Input the password.
3 Click OK to close the Release protection state screen.

Changing Timeout Settings

1 From the Application menu, select Auto protect setting, and Change timeout period.

The Change protection settings screen is displayed.

2 Specify the timeout from the last time the application is used until it is protected.

3 Input the password.

4 Click OK to close the Change protection settings screen.

Changing the Password

1 From the Application menu, select Auto protect setting, and Change password.

The Change application protect password screen is displayed.

2 After you have completed inputting changes, click OK to close the Change application protect password screen.

2Note If you forget the password, there is no way to cancel these protect set-tings. You will need to uninstall, and then reinstall Data Administrator.



3.4 New Device SettingsConfigures authentication settings for new devices, and registers address books.

2Note While configuring new devices, if device SSL transmission is set to ON, then certificate information will be displayed. Click OK to proceed to the next step. Additionally, if SSL transmission is set to OFF, then a warning message will be displayed.

3.4.1 New Device Settings from Multiple Device SettingsThis explains new device settings from multiple device settings. When con-figuring from a single device, the New Device Wizard is also displayed, how-ever refer to New Device Settings, and follow the instructions on the screen.

New Device Settings

1 From the main screen, click Settings for multiple devices.



2 Select New device settings, and click Next.

3 Confirm that the New Device Wizard is running, and click Next.

4 Select the Setting mode, and click Next.


– When importing settings from existing devices, refer to “Importing
Settings from Existing Devices” on page 3-37.– When importing settings from a settings file, refer to “Importing Set-

tings from a Settings File” on page 3-38.

5 Select the device from the list, and when the screen is displayed, click Next.

– PasswordInput the administrator password.

– UpdateUpdate the device list.

– Search settingSet the search range for the device. Refer to “Network Settings” on page 3-3 in the Data Administrator Basic Configuration section for details on how to configure this.

– Manual SearchInput the IP address, port number, and password for the selected device.



6 Select the device from the list, configure items, then click Next.

– Displays the Settings selection screen, where you can check the device configuration. However, items on the device can not be se-lected.

7 Select the authentication method for the device, and click Next.


– Select authentication method
Select the type of authentication method. Additionally, when high-security mode for the device is ON, only selection of Authenticated only by users is possible.

– Select TemplateSelect the template for use with the authentication method. Refer to “Templates for Authentication Methods” on page 5-1 for detailed information.

– Edit detail settingConfirm details of templates that are used. Check when manually configuring detailed settings.

8 Select the authentication method, and click Next. (Only displayed if Authenticated only by users, or User Authentication and Account Track were selected in Step 7)

– When using authentication with network servers, refer to “Authen-tication Using Network Servers” on page 3-38.



9 Select Account settings, and click Next. (Only displayed if Only Ac-count Track was selected in Step 7)

10 Select ON/OFF for User authentication and Account Track, and click Next. (Only displayed if User Authentication and Account Track was selected in Step 7)


11 Specify the number of users and Accounts that can be registered, and
click Next. (Only displayed if User Authentication and Account Track was selected in Step 7)

– Sum totalWhere a hard disk is installed in the device, specify each of the numbers in order that the sum total registered is up to a total of 1000. Where a hard disk is not installed, specify each of these num-bers so that the sum total registered does is up to a total of 100.

– Number of AccountsWhere a hard disk is installed in the device, specify this value in a range from 1 to 999. Where a hard disk is not installed, specify this value in a range from 1 to 99.

– Number of usersWhere a hard disk is installed in the device, specify this value in a range from 1 to 999. Where a hard disk is not installed, specify this value in a range from 1 to 99.



12 Specify the Account list to register in the device, and click Next. (Only displayed if User Authentication and Account Track, or Only Ac-count Track were selected in Step 7)It is not possible to advance to the next screen if there are items dis-played as errors in the registration status field. Edit using the Edit but-ton, and then advance to the next screen.


– Add
The Account Track settings screen is displayed. Specify new Ac-count settings. Refer to “Adding a Account List” on page 3-39 for details.

– EditSelect and click the Account to edit from the list. The Account Track settings screen is displayed, then edit the Account. Refer to “Adding a Account List” on page 3-39 for details.

– DeleteSelect and click the Account to delete from the list. The Account will be deleted.

– Import (File)Specify the Account list from a saved file. Refer to “Importing a Ac-count List from a File” on page 3-40 for details.

– Import (MFP)Specify the Account list from another device. Refer to “Importing Account Lists from other devices” on page 3-48 for details.



13 Specify the user list to register in the device, and click Next. (Only dis-played if Authenticated only by users, or User Authentication and Account Track were selected in Step 7)It is not possible to advance to the next screen if there are items dis-played as errors in the registration status field. Edit using the Edit but-ton, and then advance to the next screen.


– Add
The User setting screen is displayed. Specify new user settings. Refer to “Adding a User List” on page 3-48 for details.

– EditSelect and click the user to edit from the list. The User setting screen is displayed, then edit the user. Refer to “Adding a User List” on page 3-48 for details.



– DeleteSelect and click the user to delete from the list. The user will be de-leted.

– Import (File)Specify the user list from a saved file. Refer to “Importing a User List from a File” on page 3-50 for details.

– Import (LDAP)Specify the user list from an LDAP server. Refer to “Importing a User list from an LDAP Server” on page 3-60 for details.

14 Specify whether or not an authenticated user list is displayed on the device panel, and click Next. (Only displayed if Authenticated only by users or User Authentication and Account Track were selected, and if Edit detailed settings was carried out in Step 7.)


15 Select settings for public user, then click Next. (Only displayed if
Authenticated only by users or User Authentication and Account Track were selected, and if Edit detailed setting was carried out in Step 7.)

When using Public User, configure function limits for the Public User.



16 Specify device action at the time of reaching the limit value, and ON/OFF for print settings for unauthorized locations, then click Next.

– Counter Limit Over Effect settingsSpecify action to take if the group or user counter reaches the limit value.

– Print settings from unauthorized locationsSpecify ON/OFF for printing from unauthorized locations.

– ScannerSpecify ON/OFF for TWAIN scanner usage authentication. If Permit is selected, use of TWAIN without authentication is permitted.

17 Click Next.


18 Register abbreviated addresses, and click Next.
It is not possible to advance to the next screen if there are items dis-played as errors in the registration status field. Edit using the Edit but-ton, and then advance to the next screen.

– FindThe search dialog screen is displayed, where destinations in the list can be searched using abbreviated names.



– EditSelect a destination to edit from the list, and click Edit. The Add or edit abbreviated addresses dialog is displayed, where the destination can be edited. (The Add or edit abbreviated addresses dialog may differ depending on the contents of the destination. Carry out editing in accordance with instructions.)





– DeleteSelect a destination to delete from the list, and click Delete. The destination will be deleted.

– Import (File)Specify the abbreviated list from a saved file. Refer to “Importing Abbreviated Addresses from a File” on page 3-61 for details.


– Import (LDAP)
Specify the abbreviated list from an LDAP Server. Refer to “Import-ing Abbreviated Addresses from an LDAP Server” on page 3-71 for details.

– Import (MFP)Specify the abbreviated list from another device. Refer to “Import-ing Abbreviated Addresses from Another Device” on page 3-72 for details.

– CopySelect a destination to copy from the list, and click Copy. The des-tination will be copied.

– PastePastes the copied destination.

19 Register the abbreviated list, then click Next.



– EditSelect a group to edit from the list, and click Edit. The Group des-tination settings screen is displayed, where the destination can be edited. Refer to “Editing Group Destination Settings” on page 3-73 for details.

– DeleteSelect an abbreviated group to delete from the list, and click De-lete. The abbreviated group will be deleted.

– CopySelect a destination to copy from the list, and click Copy. The des-tination will be copied.

– PastePastes the copied destination.


20 Register a program key, then click Next.
It is not possible to advance to the next screen if there are items dis-played as errors in the registration status field. Edit using the Edit but-ton, and then advance to the next screen.



– EditSelect a program to edit from the list, and click Edit.The Program setting screen is displayed, then edit the Program key. (The Program settings dialog may differ depending on the address type or destination type. Carry out editing in accordance with instructions.)







– DeleteSelect a program key to delete from the list, and click Delete. The program key will be deleted.



– CopySelect a program key to copy from the list, and click Copy. The pro-gram key will be copied.

– PastePastes the copied program key.

21 Prepare the data to export to the device, and click Write.

– Save the configuration dataCheck this in order to save configuration data to a file.

– BrowseIf saving configuration data, specify the location to which to save that data.

– Please input a password of the fileInput a password, or leave blank.

– Confirm passwordRe-enter the password for confirmation.

22 When the Complete configuring new device screen is displayed, click Finish.


3.4.2 Common Settings
Importing Settings from Existing Devices

When importing settings, configure the following items.- Select

Displays the Device select screen for the device from which to import settings. The device can be selected from a list, or by inputting its IP ad-dress.

– UpdateUpdates the device list.

Authentication Using Network Servers

When carrying out authentication using a Network Server, configure the fol-lowing items.- Initial function permission settings

Displays the Initial function permission settings screen, and sets the default values for functions.

- Network authentication server typeSelect the type of network authentication server.

- Domain name / Tree nameWhere Active Directory or SMB is selected in the external server type, this displays the domain name. Where NDS is selected, the tree name is dis-played.

- Context nameWhere NDS is selected in the external server type, this displays the con-text name. Alternatively, input the context name.

- Device time is set to the server timeCheck this so that when Active Directory is selected in the external server type, the Active Directory server and the device coordinate their times. Furthermore, this will only function if connected to an Active Directory do-main on an installed PC.


Adding a Account List
When adding a Account List, configure the following items.- Account name

5.2 What do I do if this message is displayed?

Registered items are over. You have exceeded the permissible amount of items that can be registered. Limit the number of items in the list to 1000.

Incorrect IP address format. Input the IP address in the for-mat 100.100.100.100.

Duplication error Identical data already exists. You can not register identical data.

SNMP error SNMP transmission error with the device. Confirm that net-work cables are connected correctly.

00008 - error Confirm network cable connections. If this is displayed in spite of cables being connected, then this is an application error. Restart the PC. If the problem still occurs, then unin-stall, and reinstall the application again.

APPENDIX 5

Since “Password Rule” of a de-vice’s administrator setting is “ON”, please set up the password of eight or more characters. More-over, it cannot set to the password of only the same character.

When password regulations are turned ON in device ad-ministration settings, then passwords that have under 8 characters, or that have all the same characters may not be used. Where you wish to use passwords such as these, then ensure you turn password regulations OFF.
