Course/Instructor:Comm 130 (Section 07)Brother Ben Pingel

Program(s)/Tools:Adobe Photoshop

Objectives:Use Photoshop to create attractive design. To create an impactful, religious piece. To successfully use layers and the selection tool.

Process:For this project, I placed all three images I used onto the document, then I added layers to each photo. I then used the brush tool to blend the images together and create the montage effect. I also used the selection tool to match the man’s eye color to the lion’s. I added some masks to make more vivid colors in the lion’s mane. Finally, I used typography to emphasize parts of the Bible verse.

Objectives:Create logo using IllustratorApply logo to bussiness letterhead using Indesign.Make designs representative of the company’s purpose.

Process:I used Illustrator to create the paw print logo. I also created another image that was a pathway of the paws by creating my own brush of that logo. Next, I opened these images in InDesign and placed them approprietly. Finally, I added typography to create a letterhead.

Objectives:Create logo using Illustrator.Apply logo to business card using Indesign.Create unity with letterhead.

Process:I created a logo in Illustrator, then transferred that logo to InDesign. I then used the rectangle tool to create the outline of the business card. Next, I added the images and placed them in good locations on the front and back sides of the card. Then I completed the business card by applying typography and color fills to match.

Program(s)/Tools:Adobe PhotoshopNotePad++

Objectives:Use coding to create a webpage to showcase logo.Create unity with the letterhead and business card.

Process: I used Photoshop’s eyedropper tool to get the codes of the colors that are in my logo. Then, I used NotePad++ to create the codes needed to make the webpage look how I wanted it too. I center-aligned the logo and add-ed colors and sizes to the text. I also added a backround image to further create unity between the web page and the business card and letterhead created before.

Program(s)/Tools:Adobe Photoshop

Objectives:Create unified design in Photoshop.Create fall-themed design.Make a project that can relate to individuals.

Process:IIn Photoshop, I used the levels, sharpness, satura-tion, and color balance tools first. I used spot healing to remove imperfections on the wall, pumpkin — and glare on the guitar from the light! The eyedropper tool helped me to match all of my colors as closely as I could to that on the wheel. I added a cool quote that I liked that matched the scene. Then I used the rectangle tool to make the background and swatches.

Program(s)/Tools:Adobe Illustrator

Objectives:Use Illustrator to create attractive logo.Make versions of the logo for different formatting.Create a logo to encourage appreciation of nature.

Process:I took votes on three designs, then based on these votes, I decided to combine aspects from each. I used a new font that would be adventurous. I also used the scribble mountain shapes from the second design in the background because they appealed so much to women. I used the direct selection tool to made the triangle shapes in the foreground narrower in order to make a more prominent “M” shape and add gestalt to the design.

Program(s)/Tools:Adobe PhotoshopAdobe InDesign

Objectives:Create brochure in IndesignUse Photoshop to create text-wrap images.Create a meaningful, serious brochure.

Process:I set up the trifold layout in Adobe InDesign. I split my layout into three sections so that the first page would have the cover, back, and middle fold, while the second page would have the inside of the brochure. I placed images that would support the purpose of the brochure and decided to move from black and white to color gradually in order to communicate hope. I used the selection tool to make a cutout of the image on the left in order to wrap the text. I also used the selection tool in order to color select parts of the center image.

Program(s)/Tools:Microsoft Word

Objectives:Create attractive ad in Microsoft Word.Use design principles to unify ad.

Process:Some of the color editing features within Word were used to make the image a brighter gold color. Text boxes we used to move the text throughout the page. I tried to use value to made the figure praying look a darker yellow so the lines in the background would look like sunlight descending upon him like Joseph Smith. I also used Repetition is the phrase I places on his leg as the slogan of the drive (Faith in… faith in… faith in).

Date: 08/03/15

Course/Instructor: Comm 130 (Section 07)Brother Ben Pingel

Program(s)/Tools: Adobe InDesignAdobe Photoshop

Objectives: Learn basics of Adobe IndesignCreate a good layout for a campus event.

Process: I began with four sketches of a flier, then selected one to base my actual design on. I used Adobe Photoshop to reverse the black and white colors of the original man to create a unique value in the design and further emphasize the focal point. In InDesign I used alignment with the title and the image so the eye would be drawn to either, then be led to the next. I organized the images and information so that there would be sufficient white space.
