First of all, PIT is a time for you to personalize your academic day. You can choose to use this time to get organized, complete homework assignments, meet with teachers for tutorials, decompress and relax a little, sign up to meet with college representatives, make up missed assignments, and even get one-on-one help with your college applications by choosing to attend a Workday Wednesday (ahem, SENIORS).

The rules are pretty simple: go where you are supposed to be and stay there. You wont be able to see a teacher last minute, run to the library, or go grab something from your locker. Plan in advance and come prepared this is a basic life skill!

The only time a paper pass will be accepted is if you are being summoned from an office.2Starting next Week (September 4th)YOU get to use the PIT Portal to sign up to attend these various meetingsYou can only confirm to attend one meeting a dayYou must confirm your attendance for PIT by 10:00 AM that day locked in at that timeIf you do not confirm (RSVP) to a meeting, you must report to your Home PITYou can confirm for days in the future, multiple days in a row

Starting next week, youll have the freedom to decide where youll be going each day during PIT by using the Student PIT Portal. As you will see, the PIT Portal will only allow you to confirm one meeting each day and will lock students out by 10:00 AM that day. If you dont sign up for a meeting in the Portal, it will automatically default you to attend Home PIT.

Additionally, if youre a planner, you can confirm to attend meetings for days in the future, and even multiple days in a row. For example, if youre a Student Council member and know when all the Student council meetings are scheduled, you can sign up for all of them at one time.3Click onenter the portal

You can sign up, or think of it as an RSVP, for a meeting during PIT using either your smart phone or by logging on to the computer. Simply type in pit.leanderisd.org or head to the VHS homepage and look for the PIT Portal link4

You will be prompted for a username & password. Use the same username & password that you use to login in to the computers. Remember if you havent changed your password yet it should be your birthday (year, month, day). Otherwise use your CURRENT password. 5

Make sure to select the correct day

Once logged in, youll see a screen with your name on it and a calendar. First, be sure to select the correct date. Once the date is selected, all available tutorials or clubs located on the right hand side under Other Meetings. If you see (Restricted) by any meeting, only the sponsor can confirm you in that meeting. If you see a blue link you can schedule yourself for that meeting by simply clicking on it.

Also know that teachers have the ability to set a maximum for a tutorialonce it is full, you can no longer schedule that tutorial for that day.

So, lets say for this day, I wan to RSVP that Ill be in Tutorials with Ms. LopezI simply click on itthen6Study Groups

You can see that Tutorials are now listed as confirmed for this day. Again, you can only confirm for one meeting a day.

So, once you have confirmed for a meeting, that meeting will appear under Confirmation. What that means is you MUST BE in that meeting during PIT. Again, you have until 10:00 of that date to confirmall students will be locked out at 10:00 AM.7

If you fail to confirm before 10:00, you will automatically be defaulted to your Home PIT for that day. And hey, if you forget to sign up, theres always tomorrow! Remember, you can always plan ahead and schedule dates in advance! 8Study Groups & ClubsThere will be an informational meeting for all students that want to start a student-led club or study group Wednesday, September 5th. Sign up in the PIT Portal to attend Informational Meeting Clubs & Study GroupsTo see a list of current clubs visit bit.ly/studentpitportal

Keep in mind that PIT has an academic focus Monday through Thursday and clubs and student organizationis can meet on Friday. If youre interested in starting a student-led club, or maybe a small study group, you can sign up to attend an Informational Meeting next Wednesday. Youll need to use the PIT Portal to RSVP to this meeting.

This meeting isnt mandatory as this information can also be located at the PIT Libguide located at bit.ly/studentpitportal.

So thats iteveryone is staying put in their Home PITs til Friday, but you can already begin scheduling meetings for next week. If you have any questions, ask your Home PIT teacher. Thanks! 9
