Th e S a c r a m e n t s

• The sacraments of the New Testament, instituted by Christ and entrusted to the Church, are actions of Christ and the Church. They are the way in which faith is expressed and strengthened, and they build up the community that is the Body of Christ.

• The seven sacraments of the Catholic Church are grouped into three categories: Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist); Sacraments of Healing (Reconciliation and Anointing of the Sick); and Sacraments of Service (Marriage and Holy Orders)

• The Sacraments of Initiation—Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist—are the foundation of every Christian life. Baptism is the gateway to the other sacraments; Confirmation strengthens the graces received in Baptism; and in Eucharist we participate with the whole community in the Lord’s own sacrifice.

• By the Sacraments of Healing—Reconciliation and Anointing of the Sick—the Church continues Jesus’ work of healing and salvation among her own members who may be weakened by sickness or lost in sin.

• Marriage and Holy Orders—Sacraments of Service—are directed towards the salvation of others. These sacraments focus on a particular mission in the Church and serve to build up the People of God.

• The celebration of the sacraments is regulated by Church law, which includes the Code of Canon Law, and the norms set forth in the Liturgical Books and Sacramental Rites. These laws direct why, who, when, where, and how the sacraments may be celebrated.

• Sacraments are public and official rituals of the Church, and are normally celebrated in the parish community.

• Parishes are required to keep sacramental records. These records are official documents of the Church and are confidential.

• Families and/or individuals should keep their sacramental certificates in a safe place for their own personal records.

• Los sacramentos del Nuevo Testamento, instituidos por Cristo y confiados a la iglesia, son acciones de Cristo y de la iglesia. Son la manera en que la fe se expresa y se fortalece, y forman la comunidad que es el Cuerpo de Cristo.

• Los siete sacramentos de la Iglesia Católica están agrupados en tres categorías: Sacramentos de Iniciación ( Bautismo, Confirmación, Eucaristía); Sacramentos de Sanación (Reconciliación y Unción de los Enfermos); y Sacramentos de Servicio (Matrimonio y Orden Religioso).

• El Matrimonio y Orden Sacerdotal—sacramentos de servicio—están dirigidos hacía la salvación de otros. Estos sacramentos se enfocan en la misión particular de la iglesia de servir y formar al pueblo de Dios.

• La celebración de los sacramentos está bajo la regulación de la ley eclesial, que incluye el código de la ley canónica, y las normas colocadas en los libros litúrgicos y ritos sacramentales. Estas leyes dirigen el por qué, quién, dónde, cuándo y cómo se pueden celebrar los sacramentos.

St. Francis of Assisi Drive thru Blessing and Parade of Pets

Blessing of animals will take place on Sunday, October 4th, at 3pm.

This will be a drive thru blessing. We ask that everyone, pets included

stay in vehicles. A blessing and gift will be given to all pets.

Virtual Religious Education Program 2020-2021 This year, our Religious Education Program will only be offered online starting

Wednesday, September 16, 2020. Our new form of evangelization is going to be very different for all of us, but we will continue walking together as we bring the light of Christ to each and every one of our families. This new model is designed to be family-oriented, engaging, simple and at your own pace, as we understand the new challenges you may be facing at this time. It will be based on short weekly videos with teachings and activities presented by our gifted and talented catechists. Registrations for all ages K – 12th will be available online and in the RE Of-fice starting August 3rd. For your safety and that of our staff, if you come to the office, we will check your temperature and you are required to wear a facemask at all times. RE Office hours are from 10:00am-5:00pm Monday – Thursday. Registration fee: $35.00/child/youth. If you pay with cash, please make sure it is the exact amount. More information to come. Nuestra nueva forma de evangelización será muy diferente para todos nosotros, pero continuaremos caminando juntos mientras traemos la luz de Cristo a cada una de nuestras familias.
