My Dear Family of Our Lady of Lourdes, Next week we will be celebrating the most beautiful week of the year, Holy Week. I invite everyone to experience the full beauty and power of this week by making time in your schedule to join us as the week unfolds. Holy Week opens with Passion (Palm) Sunday. Passion Sunday begins Holy Week with a full reading of the Passion of Christ. We are reminded that the Messiah, who was greeted with joy as he entered into Jerusalem, is the one who freely gives his life so that we might have life. The full schedule for Holy Week is included with this bulletin and I invite you to tear it out and keep it for reference throughout the week. Still, I would like to highlight what is coming up. Holy Monday, the Council of Catholic Women will host our annual Bread and Soup Dinner in the Parish Hall. Following dinner the Youth Ministry of the parish will present the movie A Man for All Seasons, about the life of St. Thomas Moore. St. Thomas Moore’s life is a great help to us as we strive to be faithful Catholic citizens. Holy Tuesday the Archbishop celebrates the Chrism Mass at the Cathedral. This year we have the blessing of some of our students from Our Lady of Lourdes Parish School joining us for the Mass. This is the day when our priests renew the promises made at ordination – it is 25 years for me this year - and the Holy Oils of Catechumens, Chrism, and the Sick are blessed. These Oils will be brought to us at Our Lady of Lourdes and presented at Mass on Holy Thursday. Holy Wednesday we have the beautiful choir reflection on the Passion that is Tenebrae. Tenebrae takes place in the main church and its beauty has the power to settle us in and focus us on the Triduum that lies ahead. The Triduum is three liturgies that we celebrate as one. Please make every effort to be present for all three and you will understand why. Holy Thursday is the Mass of the Lord’s Supper where we remember the Last Supper and give thanks for Jesus’ institution of the Holy Eucharist and the Holy Priesthood. Good Friday we again hear the whole Passion proclaimed - this time from John the Evangelist reminding us that Jesus’ Passion was his gift freely given to us not something that was forced upon him. Finally the Easter vigil is when we celebrate the final victory - Jesus’ Resurrection - and we share the new life that we have found in Christ with our brothers and sisters who have come to know him and seek to die with him in Baptism so as to live with him in his Resurrection. This is truly a powerful and important week and I commend our parish family for the beauty and dignity that we bring to it each year. Mi Querida Familia de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes,
La próxima semana vamos a celebrar la semana más bella del año, la Semana Santa.
Invito a todos a experimentar la belleza y el poder de esta semana haciendo tiempo en
su agenda para unirse a nosotros mientras se desarrolla la semana. La Semana Santa
comienza con el domingo de la Pasión (Ramos). El Domingo de la Pasión comienza la
Semana Santa con una lectura completa de la Pasión de Cristo. Se nos recuerda que el
Mesías, quien fue recibido con alegría al entrar en Jerusalén, es el que libremente da su
vida para que nosotros pudiéramos tener vida.
El calendario completo para Semana Santa está incluido en este boletín y le invito a
sacarlo y conservarlo para consultar en toda la semana. Aún así, me gustaría destacar
lo que viene. El Lunes Santo, el Consejo de Mujeres Católicas será el anfitrión de
nuestra cena anual de pan y sopa en el Salón Parroquial. Después de la cena, el
Ministerio de Jóvenes de la parroquia presentará la película Un hombre para la
eternidad, de la vida de San Thomas Moore. La vida de San Thomas Moore es una
gran ayuda para nosotros mientras nos esforzamos por ser fieles ciudadanos católicos.
El Martes Santo el Arzobispo celebra la Misa Crismal en la Catedral. Este año
tenemos la bendición de que algunos de nuestros estudiantes de la Escuela Parroquial
Nuestra Señora de Lourdes se unirán a nosotros para la Misa. Este es el día en que
nuestros sacerdotes renuevan las promesas hechas en la ordenación - que es de 25 años
para mí este año - y los Santos Aceites de Catecúmenos, Crisma y los enfermos son
bendecidos. Estos aceites serán llevados a nosotros en Nuestra Señora de Lourdes y
presentados en la Misa del Jueves Santo.
El Miércoles Santo tenemos la hermosa reflexión sobre la Pasión con coro que es
Tenebrae. Tenebrae se lleva a cabo en la iglesia principal y su belleza tiene el poder de
asentarnos y centrarnos en el Triduo que se avecina.
El Triduo es tres liturgias que celebramos como una sola. Por favor, haga todo lo
posible para estar presente durante los tres y entenderá porqué. El Jueves Santo es la
Misa de la Cena del Señor, donde recordamos la Última Cena y damos gracias por la
institución de la Sagrada Eucaristía y el Santo Sacerdocio de Jesús. El Viernes Santo
de nuevo se escucha toda la Pasión proclamada - esta vez de Juan el evangelista que
nos recuerda que la Pasión de Jesús fue su don gratuito para nosotros y no algo que se
le impuso. Finalmente la vigilia Pascual es cuando celebramos la victoria final - la
Resurrección de Jesús - y compartimos la vida nueva que hemos encontrado en Cristo
con nuestros hermanos y hermanas que han venido a conocerlo y tratar de morir con él
en el Bautismo con el fin de vivir con él en su Resurrección.
Esta es verdaderamente una semana poderosa e importante y felicito a nuestra familia
parroquial por la belleza y la dignidad que traemos a ella cada año. Únase a nosotros
este año - y usted estará con nosotros durante todos los años después de eso.

Our Next “Why Catholic?” Our Journey Through the Catechism
Why Catholic? provides us with a way to deepen our faith and expand our knowledge of the faith as we work and
study together in small groups. Sessions are held in the Parish Hall on scheduled Wednesdays from
8:00 P. M. until 9:45 P. M.
Our next Why Catholic? Session will explore “Vocal Prayer and Meditation” on Wednesday, March 25, 2015
in English and on April 1, 2015 in Spanish. Our Christian tradition includes three major expressions of prayer, vocal, meditative, and contemplative. The Our Father,
probably the best-known Christian prayer of all time, is a prime example of vocal prayer. Even when we pray it silently, we
vocalize the words. Meditative prayer invites us to a deep reflection on a passage from scripture, or a liturgical celebration,
or from another source that may be found in our rich Christian tradition.

El programa de Porqué ser Católico? nos muestra un camino para profundizar y expandir nuestro conocimiento de
la fe porque trabajamos y estudiamos juntos en pequeños grupos. Las sesiones se llevan a cabo en el Salón
Parroquial y se han programado para los días Miércoles de 8:00 p.m. hasta las 9:45 p.m.
En nuestra próxima sesión de Porqué ser Católico? exploraremos sobre “La Oración Vocal y la
Meditativa.” Será el Miércoles 25, de Marzo, 2015 en Inglés y en Abril 1º 2015 en Español Nuestra tradición Cristiana incluye tres mayores expresiones de oración: vocal, meditativa y contemplativa. El Padre
Nuestro, probablemente la más conocida de las oraciones de los Cristianos, es el mejor ejemplo de oración vocal. Inclusive
cuando la rezamos en silencio, vocalizamos las palabras. La oración meditativa nos invita a una reflexión profunda sobre un
pasaje de la Escritura, o durante una celebración litúrgica, o dentro de otro evento de nuestra rica tradición Cristiana.
