    Throughoutsonnet108thespeakerdeclareshisunwaveringlovethroughreflectiononhis

  • pastattemptstowinoverhislove:usingrepetitionandtime,thespeakerrepeatswhathewas

    sayingbefore.WilliamShakespeareusesdescriptivedictionthatdescribestimeandappearance

    inordertorepresenthiseverlastinglove.Thereareseveralreferencestotimeandhowit

    representshislove:"norgivestonecessarywrinklesplace"isaprimeexample.Thequoteshows

    thespeakersayinghowhefeelsabouthislove'sappearance,theymaybeaging,buthedoesn't

    seeit.Thespeaker'sloveforthatpersoniseternalinhiseyes.Throughoutthesonnetthespeaker

    alsoreflectsonhispastattemptstoimpressthem.Heeventuallydecidesthathe'sdoneitalland

    thatthereisnolongersomethinghehasn'tdone,sodecidestoseeitallasnewonceagain.While

    doingso,healsorenewshisloveforthisperson.Forexample,"aswhenfirstIhallowedthyfair

    name,"whichmeanswhenhefirststartedfeelinghisloveforthatperson.Anotherexample

    wouldbethefinaltwolines.Theselinesfullysummarizewhatthespeakerwasstrugglingto

    effects,hisloveisconstantlyrenewedandwillbethesameasitwasintheverybeginning.
