Knowledge Management Desk (KMD) is a tool which is a repository of our learnings,

experiences and insights. KMD Champions from all teams work together to keep this

tool running.

A committee for POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) has conducted over 4

sessions throughout the year for staff and candidates in training. 1 POSH case filed and

resolved.

SPICE (S – Self Development P – Performance I – Image and Inclusion C – Career and

Competency E – Exposure) is a performance appraisal tool developed by Enable India. It

is included in the ‘My Growth Plan’ of every staff member to ensure his or her holistic

development in the organization.

Process Audits – In an effort to bring in a standardized process for teams, Enable India

started having process audits for all teams. After every audit, teams are recommended

changes, which has helped us arrive at Process 1.4.

Staff at Speaking Events

Workability Asia 2017 was hosted at Hong Kong in June where Enable India staff presented their papers. Mr. Shiva Prasad and Mr. Santosh Kumar - Successful Cases of PwDs Working At Home and Self-Employment. Ms. Pooja Rao - Private Sector Initiatives on CSR Policies and Collaboration Model with NGOs along with Raj Tripathy of Oracle Ms Priti Lobo - presented Livelihood of Visually Impaired along with Srilakshmi of Allegis. Mr. Dipesh Sutariya moderated a session on "Tripartite partnership between NGO's and Government – the Latest Thinking".

Narendra V G attended the Microsoft accessibility summit in Hyderabad.

Ms. Pooja Rao was a panel member at the Quest2Learn Summit in June for 'Anytime, Anywhere, Anyone learning’, where she spoke about Enable Academy. Mr. Sandesh HR participated in the co-lab team on the topic, ‘How to build teacher and trainer networks’.

Enable India participated in the sector consultative workshop for Vision 2025 in September. It facilitated a discussion and provided inputs for the strategic roadmap for skilling and employment of persons with disabilities.

Mr. Shibu TL & Mr. Shawn Ranon Soans presented a paper on Employability and Employment frameworks for Economic Independence and Dignity of Persons with

Disabilities at the National Conference on Disability Management - Problems and Prospects, Bengaluru in October 2017.

Enable India staff presented their papers at a two-day National Conference on “Vocational Rehabilitation and Economic Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in India” held at Baba Saheb Ambedkar Convention Centre, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi in October 2017. Mr. Sharath and Mr. Antony Helenraj on Rural Livelihoods, Mr. Suresh Kumar on Enable Inclusion Model, Mr. Shibu TL and Mr. Sanjay Kumar on Peer Alumni Model, Mr. Vishnu Soman on Enable Community.

Shanti Raghavan presented training and employment models for scaling livelihoods for PWD at the workshop ‘Paving Ways for Skilling People with Different Abilities’, Delhi in January 2018. FICCI, Department for empowerment of persons with disabilities Govt. of India, UK Government and SCPWD were the organizers.

Shanti Raghavan presented 14 + Rural based skill and severe disabilities models and show cased the critical success factors at the National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities (NIEPMD), Chennai in February.

Ms. Samrudhi Sridharan was in a CII panel discussion 'Employing and Engaging Persons with Disability: Myths and Misconceptions' in Mysore on February. The panel also included senior members of different organizations.

Shanti Raghavan spoke at the TRRAIN (Trust for Retailers and Retail Associates of India) Summit, Mumbai where she shared anecdotes and experiences on working with disabilities like Autism, learning disability and vision impairment.

Shanti Raghavan addressed the south zone round of Innovista 2018, Bangalore in March where she spoke about innovative practices of Enable India.

Ms. Agomoni Bose spoke about Mission 1000 at the OPEN Summit 2018, Bangalore.

Mr. Pranesh Nagri, conducted a session for the RSETI faculty on Inclusion of persons with disability which is now become a flagship session at RSETI.

Mr. Pranesh Nagri and Mr. Dipesh Sutariya attended the Alumni Program of SBI Youth for India in March.

Business Today Magazine has recognized Shanti Raghavan, Founder of Enable India as “The Most Powerful Women In Business 2017” in the Women of Impact Category featured on 8th October.

Enable India was awarded the Super Achiever Award for being an outstanding NGO in the disability sector in Karnataka, in October. The “N.S. Hema Award for Outstanding NGO in Disability” is an annual award given in special recognition to an NGO with excellent work in the field of disability in Karnataka.

Mr. Pradip Sinha, a Deaf-Blind person working for Dell EMC and Hatti Kaapi, a fast-growing South Indian filter coffee chain has been awarded under role model categories in the 18th NCPEDP – Mindtree Helen Keller Award.

Mr. Vishnu Soman, Enable Community’s Program Manager appeared in an interview with Passion Connect, which provides a platform for people to unlock their passion and live it. They have also selected him to be a mentor of the Passion Connect platform.

A Round Table Discussion on, "Persons with Disabilities and Rural Livelihoods" moderated by Ms. Shanti Raghavan was held at IIIT, Bangalore in September co-hosted by Disability NGOs Alliance(DNA), Azim Premji University, Srishti Institute of Art, Design & Technology and International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT).

Enable India’s campaign Mission 1000 was launched in August with company leaders at the Workshop for Inclusive Employment for NGOs working for severe, multiple and developmental disabilities. Over 25 company leaders from around 15 companies attended the launch along with leaders from 35 NGOs.

Enable India conducted Inclusive & Adaptive Leadership Workshop for 20 Senior Leaders of an IT MNC at Bangalore in August. Enable India has coached 10,600+ Leaders across 27 sectors on Inclusive and Adaptive Leadership and Business Case.

In November 2017, Dipesh Sutariya, CEO and Co-Founder Enable India, addressed a distinguished gathering of senior officers of Tata Steel at Tata Club, Joda during a Workshop cum Recognition program of OMQ division of Tata Steel.

Ms. Shanti Raghavan was invited by NCPEDP (National Center for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People) to address the National convention for youth with disabilities #NCYD2017 at Delhi on disability sensitization.

India Inclusion Summit 2017, took place in November, Bangalore. As in the past the event has marched the social order a step further towards inclusive India. Enable India is a knowledge partner to the event.

Dipesh Sutariya attended the conference of Workability Thailand forum and the Board meeting in February, Thailand.

Dipesh Sutariya, Pooja Rao accompanied by Richa Gaur, Maria Joy and Neha Khandelwal visited Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology in February to understand the students’ final project presentations. Each student group had taken one locked door (Locked door represents an issue concerning the journey of person with disability) that posed a challenge in the journey of a person with disability towards livelihood.

Dipesh Sutariya was a panel speaker at the NASSCOM Diversity and Inclusion Summit 2018 in March, Chennai. He shared case studies to drive the message on the importance of practical solutions.

Courses and Certifications by Staff

Charan Manjappa has completed Indian Sign Language (ISL) B certification.

Roopesh Shashidaran & Nynesh A K underwent training at ITIL Foundation V3 and accomplished the certification.

Karthik Velusamy has taken the online exam & accomplished the certification for MTA (Microsoft Technology Associate) Developer Cert – Exam 98-375 HTML5 App Development Fundamentals.

Shivakumar B.R. has taken the online certification for MTA (Microsoft Technology Associate) Infrastructure Cert – Exam 98-369 Cloud Fundamentals.

Pooja Rao has enrolled for ISB’s Post Graduate Program in Management for Working Professionals (PGPpro). The program allows professionals to gain deep strategy and leadership insights, specialize in their fields, enhance their decision-making abilities as well as strengthen managerial skills.

Mr. Roopesh Shashidaran completed the Microsoft 70-411 certification.

Mr. Dinesh Kumar completed his MA in English literature.

Santosh Kumar completed the Aritra Leadership program which helps build a strong leadership pipeline for the social sector

Roopesh Shashidaran completed his Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) certification.

Natesh S completed his ITIL Certification.

Nynesh A K did Microsoft Certification exam on 98-375 HTML5 App Development fundamental. This will help in pursuing development in SharePoint Online where HTML5, and CSS3 would be handy.

Naveen Kumar has finished the first round of coaching session with Hala associates to help him move to a leadership position.

Moses Chowdary has completed the certification for Deque's Document Accessibility Specialist.

Naveen Kumar and Narendra V G have completed Deque's Document Accessibility Specialist curriculum.

Aashish Kumar, an Enable Inclusion trainer has received the Best Trainer Award from the Chairman and Managing Director, State Bank of India for his work on training employees at SBI.

Policies

As part of Organizational restructuring in 2017, a band Scheme for all employees was introduced from one to ten.

POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassments) was introduced as part of the HR policy.

HR has streamlined the interview process at Enable India.

Staff Welfare Committee comprising of Murali Kumar, Sujatha Vijayanand, Geeta, Naveen Kumar and Vishwas Urs was officially formed.

Enable India has been accredited by the CREDIBILITY ALLIANCE after having examined our policies and accounting process. Credibility Alliance is a consortium of Voluntary Organizations committed towards enhancing Accountability and Transparency.

Shri. VS Basavraju, Commissioner Disability Karnataka launched the Kannada Language version of RPWD Act passed in the year 2016 at Enable India, in March 2018.

Staff training

Anisha Jose, Naveen C R, Bhanita Devi, Jyoti Shankar and Priti Lobo attended an Employability TOT at Enable India.

New Learner’s session, with 29 staff members was introduced to learn JAWS and Indian Sign

Language every Friday.

38 Staff members including 15 Employees with Disabilities attended the SPICE Training.

188 people including staff and candidates of Enable India attended a session on POSH.

64 Staff members including 24 Employees with Disabilities attended the Self Awareness Workshop.

2018 kick started with a weeklong staff training and capacity building in January where staff shared their insights on methodologies and models.

Guest Visit

Students from Naseema Institute of Optometry, visited Enable India to test a note identification device that they developed.

Mr. Aditya Vashishta from the University of Washington visited Enable Vision for research on Respeak - a voice based, crowd powered speech transcription platform to provide additional earning opportunities for persons with vision impairment.

On January 2018, 15 students along with 2 Professors from Manhattan College, New York visited Enable India to get exposure on their study ‘Doing Business in India’. It necessitates meeting both Entrepreneurs and NGO leaders to learn more about their work, particularly the challenges.

AIF Clinton fellows, as part of their 10-month volunteer service program matching young professionals with development organizations visited Enable India in January. They interacted with Shanti Raghavan, attended the Enable Community event ‘Bad Wheels’ and visited DNA partners Antharbhaava who has people with intellectual disability and Autism Spectrum disorder run “My store next door” and Seva in Action.

An awareness program on disability was organized in Enable India for students from Social Work Department of Ramkrishna Vivekananda College, Chennai in January 2018.

A group of Government officials and DPOs led by Samiulhaq Sami, Advisor for Disability Rights & Inclusion from Afghanistan visited Enable India in March 2018. This Exposure visit led by Handicap International Afghanistan with delegation of 8 people with disabilities and Govt officials from Department of Disability Afghanistan. They came to participate in various workshops, seminars, visit to NGOs/DPOs, companies and special schools, Accessible tour, Cultural and Sports events.

45 post graduate students, 35 from Srishti Institute of Art, Design and Technology and 10 from IIIT, Bengaluru visited Enable India on 14th Feb as part of their Systems & Service Design workshop in collaboration with Enable India. The workshop aims to look at the various challenges faced by a person with disability towards their journey for livelihood and address them with systematic solutions.

Heidi Strawson, Head of Global Corporate Citizenship, Accenture visited Enable India on 14th March and discussed the common vision of ecosystem building for persons with disability.
