Opportunities to Be ExtraOrdinary
Well the Christmas season is now behind us and we have entered into Ordinary
Time As much as I relish the beauty and joy of the Christmas season therersquos something comforting to me about returning to the ldquoordinaryrdquo routine whether it be at church or at home However one thing we all need to remember is that while it may be Ordinary Time we are still called to be extraordinary Christians in our prayer in our service to others and in our ministry to the Church In this new year and at the beginning of Ordinary Time I invite you to consider how you can be more than ldquoordinaryrdquo to the life of our Church Perhaps you could consider joining the Prayer Circle which sends e-mails about prayer requests (contact Cathy Cooke at ccooke103gmailcom if you would like to join) volunteering at our Food Pantry on Tuesdays (contact John or Joan McQueeney at jjmcqueeney74gmailcom) or joining one of the liturgical ministries as a cantorchoir member usher altar server Communion minister or lector (contact me at pmeyerdororg about any of these ministries) The parish ndash and our Church universal ndash needs you to share your faith and your gifts A new ministry vital to our celebration of the Eucharist in which you may be interested in joining is sacristan We have several individuals who partially fill this role by cleaning the church linens faithfully ndash thank you ndash but we would like to extend this ministry by inviting parishioners to set up for our weekend Masses Among other responsibilities the role of these sacristans would include preparing the sanctuary for each Mass Sacristans place the vessels needed for Mass on the credence table prepare the hosts and wine that will become the Body and Blood of our Lord check the oil canisters for the candles turn on lights etc If you would like to join this ministry or if you simply have questions about it please contact me or Sharon Woloszyn (forevermom33icloudcom) So many opportunities to be extraordinary Christians May we all respond to these opportunities with eagerness and zeal showing our gratitude to God for the gift of His Son ndash whether itrsquos Ordinary Time or not

NCYC is fast approaching What You have not heard of NCYC NCYC is the National Catholic Youth Conference This is an AWESOME FAITH-FILLED event that brings nearly 25000 young people from across the country together in Indianapolis Indiana for 3 days of workshops fun prayer and Mass as a way to draw closer to God and to dive deeper into our Catholic faith Teens from our parish have been attending NCYC since 2003 and have described it as awesome incredible and life-changing This years conference theme is Called-LLamados and will run from November 16th-18th 2017 If you are even the slight bit interested we encourage you to attend a brief informational meeting on Sun-day January 29th at 115 pm in room 208 at Immaculate Concep-tion School Details about cost transportation hotel and schedule will be given out at that time In the meantime if you have any questions feel free to contact Rich Rasmussen at 273-6121 ext 102
March for Life 2017 DOR to DC
