The Greek Arena Everyone with a social media account can and do

anything they want to express.
There are friendly people online. There are also
unfriendlypeople online. Such is the nature of social media which
isthe same as real life interaction .
Peoples personalities offline are similar to theirpersonalities
online; however, online personalities are oftenexaggerated versions
of these peoples offline selves.

the potential for VIRALITY .
Can be and has been shown to be faster than legacy methods ofPR
(i.e, published PRs)
Can be and has shown to help spread information from legacy
sources (i.e., radio shows, television, official statements)

Therefore, LEOs can leverage this potential by making sure
thattheir socmed managers are always quick on the draw but donot
sacrifice accuracy !

Stick to facts, and you become THE authority on issues. People
will depend on you and will be glad you are online.
The public is always curious. Tell us what you are doing.
Tell us the things we want to know, and we need to know.There is
a difference!
Zero BS. Any BS leads to an eventual loss of credibility.
Excellent examples online of government accounts who areonline
authorities on issues: @MMDA (traffic), @nababaha(weather),
@govph.

Willingness to engage of officials online =constructive
engagement by the public.
You cant please everyone, but you can and should! engage with
the public in a pleasant manner .
Even if the public disagrees with your statement, they
willcontinue respect your posts and positions, if you arerespectful
and friendly .
Unfriendliness, arrogance, and other negative traits aresurefire
attitudes to alienate the public.
Real life = SocMed : Ang mayabang, pinaniniwalaan ba ?

Learn the language of the filipinonetizen. Many are willing to
guidesocial media newbies ; we were all n00bs once upon a time.
Learn from officials and government social media practitioners
who are
doing a good job online. There is no need to reinvent the wheel
whenothers are already rolling at full speed.
Learn from your own ranks. Your people are on social media too.
Howdo they converse with their family and friends online?
Dont be afraid to make errors; be afraid of not correcting
mistakespromptly and humbly .
The Filipino netizen is ready to trust you. Are you willing to
