Excerpt from Riding Freedom:Ebeneezer put his hand on Charlotte's shoulder. "Now

listen, don't you pay them passengers no mind. You are what you are. And what you are is the best coachman I ever saw. You remember that. Under the circumstances, there ain't nothing left for you to do but your job. So get to it."

Charlotte looked square at Ebeneezer.Ebeneezer looked square back at Charlotte and said,

"You're the coachman. You're in charge, so load 'em up."

Student Check InsShort explanations to questions to check for student understanding.

Question: Why do we see an apple as red? White light is a form of energy that travels in waves. It can be absorbed, refracted or reflected. Visible white light is made up of different wavelengths of energy. These different wavelengths we see as colors. The color of an object or material is determined by the wavelengths it absorbs and those it reflects. An object has the color of the wavelengths it reflects. A material that reflects all wavelengths of visible light appears white. A material that absorbs all wavelengths of visible light appears black. We see an apple as red, because all the colors or wavelengths of white light are absorbed except for the color red which is reflected back to our eyes.
