Refund PolicyFor occupational classes that meet four times or less, a 75 percent refund shall be made on the first day of the class. For classes that meet five or more times, a 75 percent refund shall be made if the student officially withdraws from the class prior to or on the official 10 percent point of the class. No refunds are offered for community service courses or workshops.

Please Note: All books are an estimated cost. Price changes are possible.

Basic SkillsAdult High School (AHS) The fall semester for AHS begins Monday, August 19, 2019. This program follows the N.C. Standard Course of Study which defines the appropriate content standards for each high school course in order to provide a uniform set of learning standards. A mandatory AHS orientation is required prior to enrollment in the AHS program. The fall AHS Orientation is scheduled for Wednesday, August 14 (1 - 5 pm), Thursday, August 15 (9am-1pm) or Friday, August 16 (9am-1pm). There are unique requirements for minor students (16 or 17 years old). Call the Basic Skills office at 252-222-6195 for information.

High School Equivalency (previously GED©)A multi-entry program whereby students are able to enroll throughout the semester. There are four (4) subject areas: mathematics; language arts; science; and social studies. Students must attend a mandatory two-day orientation prior to enrollment in the HSE program. Call the Basic Skills of-fice at 252-222-6195 for information.

English Language Acquisition (previously ESL) A multi-entry program where students are able to enroll throughout the semester. The ELA program is for students who are foreign born, 18 years of age or older and English is not their first language. These classes help students learn to communicate in English. U.S. Citizenship class available. Contact Pam Brecheisen at 252-222-6212.

Career Readiness Certificate The Career Readiness Certificate (CRC) compliments traditional credentials and confirms the person’s competence in Applied Math, Graphic Literacy, and Workplace Documents. Corporate and Community Education Fall 2019Health Careers continuedCourse Title Start Date End Date Time Days Bldg./Room CostMassage Therapy - New Program A two (2) Certificate Massage Therapy program will be offered through Corporate and Continuing Education. Massage students will begin in fall semester and graduate in May. They may become eligible to take their MBLEx examination and become licensed to practice massage and bodywork therapy in NC after successful completion of the Massage Therapy I (fall) and Massage Therapy II (spring) courses.

The Massage Therapy I course introduces concepts basic to the role of the massage therapist in a variety of clinical settings. Emphasis is placed on beginning theory and techniques of body work as well as skill intherapeutic touch. Prepares graduates to work in direct client care settings to provide manipulation, methodical pressure, friction and kneading of the body for maintaining wellness or treating alterations inwellness throughout the lifespan.

Our classes offer hands-on clinical experience to better prepare one to work as a professional nurse aide with confidence. Students will complete a total of 176 hours inclusive of class, laboratory and clinical experiences obtained in long-term care facilities consistent with the standards of practice encompassing the knowledge and skills required under the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act. Crystal Coast Fire Academy

The Crystal Coast Fire Academy (CCFA) is a 18-week evening program not to exclude Saturday days that involves some day time internship hours. Academy cadets receive North Carolina Fire/Rescue certification courses in the areas of Firefighter and Hazardous Materials NC L1 Responder. Additionally, cadets will receive NIMS 100 and 200 certification. Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) concepts will be taught as part of the curriculum along with other expanded firefighter topics including LP Gas firefighting. At the end of the academy, cadets will be taught job preparatory skills and will be exposed to a job placement process.
