destination. Israel and Canada are natural partners — we are both hubs for innovation and venture capital, and we are ranked as the first and second most educated populations in the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development. Ontario and Israel have enjoyed mutually beneficial links in so many areas – we have strong commercial, academic and institutional links to be sure, but also cultural and social links that make our two jurisdictions both friends and partners.

The strength of our relationship is especially evident in our life sciences sector, and that is a relationship that we would all like to see continue and grow for many years to come.

As we continue to establish ourselves as a world-class life sciences cluster, Ontario’s growing health technology and research sector is providing increasing opportunity for economic activity here at home. Our government is determined to do everything we can to build on these opportunities. That is why our government appointed Ontario’s first Chief Health Innovation Strategist, Bill Charnetsky, to champion our province as a leading centre not only for new and innovative health technology, but also for bringing that technology to market both here in Ontario and around the world.

Ontario and Israel have much in common with a longstanding track record of friendship and collaboration. Our sector strengths mirror each other in many areas including life sciences and information technology through to advanced manufacturing and clean technologies.

The two main priorities of UJA Federation of Greater Toronto have always been: helping Jewish people in need today; and building the Jewish people for tomorrow.

Throughout the years, we have made a real difference by supporting initiatives that demonstrate the effectiveness of our community when it comes together: • a local financial safety net for the most vulnerable; • rescue operations to save Jews facing persecution anywhere in the world; • a Birthright Israel trip for every Jewish young adult; • tuition assistance for thousands of local Jewish Day School students, and• sustained funding to communities under fire in Israel.

Weston Forest is one of North America’s leading full service distributors and re-manufacturers of softwood and hardwood lumber, and specialty panel products.

Weston Forest maintains an extensive inventory of industrial and commodity lumber and panels to provide just-in-time service to the crating and industrial packaging industry, construction and infrastructure sector, and lumber and building materials dealers, including MSR lumber for truss manufacturers.

Weston Forest also acts as an exclusive sales agent for a group of SPF sawmills in northern Ontario, producing mostly rough lumber in dimensions up to 12’ x 12’ x 32’.

Zenyatta Ventures Ltd. (Zenyatta) is a mineral development company based in Thunder Bay, Ontario. We are currently developing the Albany Graphite Deposit (“Albany”), a very rare, hydrothermal graphite deposit with the potential to produce a natural, high-purity graphite to compete in high-technology and clean-tech markets (i.e. batteries, fuel cells and graphene) traditionally reserved for the more costly and environmentally damaging synthetic graphite, which is derived from petroleum coke.

This is a high value special material with unique characteristics that could make it the preferred material for conversion to valuable graphene applications.” - Dr. Oren Regev, professor, Chemical Engineering, Ben-Gurion University
