Course DescriptionsEN 110 - College Composition (3 credit hours, $339.00 total)Designed to develop writing skills through a variety of writing tasks, this course will emphasize the use of rhetorical strategies in development of ideas, mastery of basic scholarly conventions, and application of critical thinking skills. Reading selections support the aims of the course. A documented research paper is required. It is highly recommended that students have completed 11th grade Regents English and have achieved an 85% on the Regents exam. PS 100 - General Psychology (3 credit hours, $339.00 total)Focused on the nature of psychology as a science, this course’s topics include (but are not limited to) statistical analysis, biological foundations of behavior, sensation, perception, conditioning and learning, motivation, cognitive processes, reactions to stress, and mental health. MT 143 - Introductory Statistics I (4 credit hours, $452.00 total)Involving concepts and computer skills valuable in a variety of life and work applications, this four-credit course will include statistical topics like graphing, measures of central tendency and dispersion, probability frequency distributions, Central Limit Theorem, the normal distribution, sampling concepts, estimation, hypothesis testing, linear regression, correlation, utilization of a statistical software package, interpretation of computer output, and explaining and interpreting statistical analysis. BI 169 - Nutrition (3 credit hours, $339.00 total)A science elective designed for non-science majors. A study of the principles of nutrition; nutrients as they relate to the individuals’ daily living; how to plan and evaluate their own dietary intake; and consideration of social, economic and psychological factors in relationship to dietary practices.
