F2F: For the 1st Time

Twenty OMS CS women converged in October 2016 at the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing. Georgia Tech continues to remove barriers that traditionally separate online students from a complete higher education experience. Scholarship winners traveled from as far as India to participate in three days of celebration in Houston, Texas.

In Fall 2017, OMS CS launched its digital OMS CS Career Seminar Series, in which current and former students share advice on leveraging the program to advance their careers. Delivered via the Shindig platform, these seminars are free and open to any OMS CS student around the world.

OMS CS: A GLOBAL COMMUNITY

In 2013, Georgia Tech and its partners, Udacity and AT&T, determined to make high-level advanced education in computer science accessible to a much larger body of students. The result  ȱȱ Ȃȱęȱaccredited master’s degree in CS through the “massive online” platform – for less than $7,000. Total.

Four years on, Georgia Tech’s online MS in Computer Science (OMS CS) program boasts a worldwide community of nearly 6,000 students; more than 17,000 applications; a curriculum of 30 courses (and growing) —and ȱęȱȱ ȱare proving the value of OMS CS in the marketplace.

Why did we do it? Read the stories and see the numbers in this report, and you’ll see why.

Spring 2017 graduates Vanessa Anderson and Miguel Morales represent a new wave of students receiving their M.S. in computer science from Georgia Tech, thanks to OMS CS. In a special segment on “Rethinking College,” PBS NewsHour recently caught up with professors Charles Isbell and Ashok Goel, as well as current student Eboni Bell (pictured) and program graduates like Anderson and 1SVEPIWXSGLEXEFSYXXLIMQTEGXSJ317'7SRLMKLIVIHYGEXMSR

OMS CS has graduated nearly 600 students—most of whom

were “early adopters” who believed the program would

succeed from the moment it was announced. Graduation

rates are expected to rise sharply as later—and much larger—

cohorts progress through the program.

Imagine Discovering That

Your Teaching Assistant Really Is a Robot

Dean Zvi Galil continues to travel the world as a champion for OMS CS. This past year, he was invited to visit The Netherlands, Israel, and China (along with OMS CS professor Jimeng Sun) to meet with current students, prospective students, and alumni and friends of GT Computing.
