Online e-business toolenables simple pump sizingand selection The fluid handling divisions of Met-Pro Corporation, incorporating the Dean Pumpand Fybroc divisions, haveupgraded their websites byinstalling the ePump-Flo web-based software programme fromPump-Flo Solutions.

According to the manufacturers, with this system end users canselect, evaluate, and analysecentrifugal pumps by utilisingelectronic pump catalogs locatedon each divisional website. Thiscapability will ease pump sizingand specification procedures.

The ePump-Flo software uses apowerful web-based search

engine to select all of the pumpsthat meet an end user’sperformance criteria. The enduser can then select the bestpump for their particularapplication based on size, efficiency and NPSHR.

Pump curves and performancedata sheets can be displayed orprinted off for comparison andevaluation purposes. Users canalso send a detailed request for aquote, via email, directly to therespective pump division, whichshould save time during theordering process. It alsoeliminates the need to storebulky paper-based technicalbrochures and order forms.

David Brown Union PumpsCompany, part of Textron Inc’sFluid and Power HydrocarbonProcessing group, is now‘guaranteeing’ on-time deliveryof spare part orders following anew internal program that hasreduced manufacturing andadministrative lead-times,speeding up production times.Under the program, freedelivery is promised if a sparepart is delivered late.

The service initiative hasalready been implemented inthe United States and will berolled out to the rest of theworld shortly. It seems to beintended to win a slice of theincreasingly lucrative spareparts market to which manymanufacturers are now lookingat to improve their profit

margins. The market placecompetition for repeat ordersand replacement parts isstrong, however, with manyreplica and secondaryfabrication companiescompeting hard with OEM’s onprice. The company is obviouslyhoping that the servicedimension and brandreputation will appeal to endusers enough to win moreorders.
